How to get back on track!

Recommended Posts

Hello, on march 18 I was sleeved and was doing pretty good in the beginning after surgery but I have since fallen off the van wagon. I've really been struggling. I think in my mind I thought the fat girl in me would just die right there on the operating table and then I'd just automatically become this new skinny person. Wow was I wrong! Duh this takes a lot of work! So here's where I'm at now... I've lost about 35lbs I eat whatever I feel like eating.... Which is usually not healthy. I do good to drink one Protein Shake a day and I'm not exercising. I'm so worried I've stretched my sleeve. I have weighed 230 for at least a month now ... I feel so alone with this. My family does not support my health recovery at all. Half the time they want to take me to eat at places where's there's literally nothing I can eat... So I've been reading a lot about how I can turn this around. I'm considering going on a juice fast for a few days or longer if I can handle it. I'm thinking maybe this will help me reboot. I just feel like I've failed miserably. Has anyone else been juicing veggies and fruit? I'd really like some feed back on how I can get back on track! Some encouragement is much needed!!

You seriously need professionals to help you on your journey. That has been the reason for my success- I believe that with all my heart. People always underestimate the power of a good behavior therapist. I don't think a juice fast will help you long term. You need to talk to somebody about why you eat the way you do. And then once those questions are answered - come up with coping strategies. Don't quit- don't give up on yourself. Don't buy that crappy food. If you had the sleeve - the great thing is that the appetite hormone has been greatly reduced in your body. So if you only eat the healthy -non-sugar foods - you will not be physically hungry. And it is not to late to stop what you are doing and start over again. Love yourself enough to give yourself a new start.

I agree with Melissa. Seeing a counselor is key to your success. Instead of focusing on juice, eat healthy. Solid Protein first. If you do, you will not have room for the bad stuff yet.

Almost any restaurant will have something you can eat. Just modify it. Even a hamburger joint. Just eat the meat. Order an iced tea and sweeten with Splenda. Have the Soup if it is not cream-based.

If you do nothing else, walk. Walking 30 minutes a day in the morning can help you focus on yourself. You deserve this time alone!

Thank you for replying! I had surgery 03/18 and my surgeon had me lose some weight before I had surgery but I'm pretty sure it's around 35 that I've lost since surgery. I may not have done the tracker thing right. I go to my doctor for the first time after surgery on the 12th but I won't be seeing the surgeon ill be seeing his assistant. He won't be available. I haven't seen my doctor since I had surgery.

Hi.

I also had surgery on March 18th. While I have been good I have not been perfect.

I dont eat bad junky, I have had a bite of chocolate and a french fry.

I am a slow loser. 49 lbs since I started losing in February.

Can I say, put the past behind. Start your process over again. You know what you have to do. Protein in, Water in, exercise out.

I wish you luck and much success.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
