I feel so discouraged right now. I am not losing weight and my hunger pangs are terrible. Again Feb 1st 260 lbs...today 215 lbs...My doctor told me that he expected more weight loss from me and told me that I was gonna fail at this but wont be the first. I just see everyone else losing lots of weight...why not me? Sleeved 2/27/13!

Those numbers don't sound to bad to me. I was sleeved on Feb 19 at 270lbs and my current weight is 228.6lbs. Sound like I'm on the same track as you. Everyone looses at different rates. Keep plugging along, work your sleeve, it will come off in time. :)

You've lost 45lbs so be proud of that. As for your doctor, he sounds like someone who really inspires his patients...not. Maybe some of the veterans will chime in because I'm just about two months out and I still don't really know what I'm doing. Be kind to yourself and let things progress naturally. Good luck to you!

I agree. I started out at 258 on 2/4/13 and I'm 205 now. Looks like we are all going about the same rate. Try not to compare too much. There are so many factors that contribute to our weight loss. I know I'm losing slower because I'm older but I try not to let it get me down. Hang tough! Your doctor should be ashamed of himself!!!

Hi felyn001,, i am in the same boat as you,, I was sleeved on 3/19/13 and am down 38 lbs. Was at dr. today and she said i am doing good ,, I told her i felt i was a slow loser ... and she said everybody is different and to keep up the good work and that is 38 pounds i wont see again. So lets keep our chin up and move forward with our journey.. I wish it was falling off but i gotta be patient it will come off.. And i have a few choice words for your dr...... but i dont think i can write them!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Oh goodness.. You sound right on track. I can't believe your dr doesn't realize that everyone loses differently and WE ALL GO THROUGH STALLS! Shame on him for discouraging ou.

I'm almost 6 months and 45 lbs down. I don't say "only" anymore because I'm ok as long as its losing and not gaining. Hang in there.. You're doing great!

That's a horrible thing for your surgeon to say! Stick with it! You're doing great. I haven't even had surgery and I'm already preparing for stalls. You will lose again! Best of luck!

I am still stunned that your dr told you that you were going to fail...I remember the advice a fellow sleever said recently: the weight didn't come on your body that quickly, so we shouldn't expect it to come off quickly

I have the same problem. I'm hungry even more now then I was before the surgery. In 5 months I lost 50 pounds. He shouldn't have said that to you. Because every one Lose weight differently.

Don't weigh often is my advice. Pick one day a week - wear same clothes, weigh at the same time, if you would like, but don't get on the scale every day...it gives Mr. Scale too much power. Focus on Protein, Water, and exercise - the weight will come off...don't compare yourself to others & don't take what your dr said to heart (she/he may have been having a bad moment & made bad comment)...you can do this! You are doing it...your loss is great!!!

Best of luck to you!!!

felyn, I am a little confused...why would you need a new surgeon? I agree that his handling of your situation is terrible, but are you planning on having additional surgery?

I've been researching and I'm so glad to have found this site. The support is fantastic and for this really big decision in my life its a comfort to know I'm not alone.

Tomorrow I will see the surgeon for the first time and hope my journey to surgery will not be to long. Hoping to have it done before years end.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
