question for foodies at least months post op

Recommended Posts

Each person is of course different, but I have been very happy with the variety of foods I can make post surgery. The first several weeks suck of course, but now that I am on normal food I can modify anything to fit the plan. I do miss the bread and Pasta on occasion but I have found I can make those dishes without all the carbs and just be as satisfied. Tonight's dinner was "Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls" just without the tortilla roll and it was better than Chili's. I am enjoying all the creative food I am making. So I would say you will be fine!

I'm two years out and I enjoy a wide variety of foods and drink. I live in the SF Bay Area, which is foodie heaven.

It took me longer than some to be able to enjoy bread, spicy foods, and acidic foods but I'm all in now.

I'm just over a month out from surgery and can eat just about anything. I've modified a lot of my foods to cut carbs, but I don't feel deprived at all... I have no issues cooking for myself, but I have NOT tackled eating out at a restaurant yet! The portion I'd be able to eat just doesn't seem worth it, but I do enjoy socializing over a meal... that's gonna be the tough part for me, but as far as what I cook for myself, I've been able to be creative and enjoy having lots of leftovers and stretching my money! :)

I am nearly 6 months out. I can eat anything and everything. I eat out, and I entertain. Of course, I'm careful about my choices, and I track EVERY bite I eat, and count calories. I have to, otherwise I would not be losing weight. I have good restriction, but not like some people who can only eat a few bites, or people who can't tolerate lots of different things. Oddly enough, I used to love bread and Pasta, and milk. All of them were off limits for me for the first 4 months, and though I tried a few here and there at about 2-3 months and tolerated them well, I still limit them to once or twice a week. I don't count carbs, but I think in the back of my mind, I do limit the obvious ones. Everyone is different, and there is no way to predict how it will be for you. Good luck with your impending surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
