Im having a HUGE problem with my doctor, she wont even join the fight with me to get payment for my Lapband Surgery because she says they'll turn me down because I have no major health problems, besides the fact of what runs in my family and my BMI being 36.9(202lbs) at 5'2 inches tall in height.

I Need A SUPPORTIVE DOCTOR,any one know any in the Cincinnati,Ohio area?so that I may have support while trying the insurance companies for payment to get the surgery?

Have I got the answer for you. Dr. Curry. He's the one that answers all of the problems on the complication thread and he's my doctor. He's a doll number one and very very experienced. He's very helpful, supportive and works great with your insurance and he hits your port right on and fills are a breeze. Here's his website. I just seen him Thanksgiving week. Lots of people on here use him. He's attached to Deaconess Hospital across from the University in Cinci. www.thebanddoctor.com

You should be able to go to Dr Curry and he should be able to do all paperwork needed and send your family Dr a letter telling her what he is going to do for you. I live about 45-50 minutes from Cincinnati and have a fantastic Family Dr who is very supportive of my decision to be banded. Money is just the obsticle. If you want to know his name let me know. I will gladly give it to you.

Dr Osborne of the Cincy weight loss center only does lap bands. That is where I had mine done. In dayton, miami valley hospital and kettering hospital also do bands.

good luck!

AnnieM, There are several hospitals in dayton that do the Bariatric surgery, banding included in all but the old St E. Hospital. Good Sam , Miami Valley, Kettering and the old St Elizabeth Hospital all do them as well as Middletown Regional.

Shay did you call and set up an appt with that Dr that Dr C. suggested?

I know that my current office said they have a dr that works with them to do the pre-stuff (like 6 mo supervised diet, etc) if your dr won't work with you. You may call and ask them if they have anyone like that?

were you fefering to a weight loss dr or just a dr to refer you? this may sound wierd but try your Gynocologist. That is who refered me. Being over weight can cause major hormone problems. Or simply switch doctors. if you were refering to weight loss dr. try the Georgetown Baratric center in Georgetown Ky about a hour away from Cincinatti

hope this helps

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
