Question for all the "Oh my god, what have I done?" people...

Out of curiosity, I'm wondering how many of the folks who've recently started threads regretting their sleeve had a psychological evaluation done prior to surgery? I'm not accusing you of anything, just wondering! (I didn't have one done)

I never started a thread but did ask in one of the May sleever threads when does this get better when I was like a day or two post op. At that time I needed a little bit of a timeline of when things start to get better. I still look for that throughout the threads but I wouldn't say I regret it and I think the early stages are some of the hard times along with the pre op diet it had its own set of challenges. I know this doesn't answer the question but I always read the threads to what you are referring to. :)

I felt that way immediatly waking up from the surgery, and the first week post op. I did have a psych eval done (mandatory per insurance). Surgeon and the psychologist both said it's normal to feel and think that way afterward. It's like postpartum depression I am told. (Though I never had that with either of my children).

My insurance required me to have a psychological evaluation done prior to surgery. Just asked a bunch of questions that they could have found on my Facebook then asked me why I was getting surgery. But I still woke up after surgery asking why I did this. The first few weeks for me were heard. It felt like I was going through food with draw. Kind of like a detox from food. I was upset, angry, and not in a good mood at all.

But now 4 1/2 months out I am doing great I have lost 110lbs and going strong. No one said it was going to be easy.

I had a psych eval done and I had to visit with a Psych Dr 3 x. I have been on my journey since 2005 too. BUT I never regretted it. I did say around day 2 or 3 "OMG, What have I done to myself?" in the hospital because I was having so much trouble getting in Water. I think a lot of us have probably thought it or even said it aloud more than those who have posted it on the boards, and like me they soon realize that it is a long process. A few months of discomfort and pain (for some) to get to a ultimate healthy lifestyle.

I'm at the beauty shop right now and my stylist said you look great. I said thanks. Then as we were talking she said one of her clients lost 60 some lbs the right way by eating right and exercise. Was that a jab? I said that I have been

N fat my entire life except for 3 yrs that I starved myself. Every time I lost 10 lbs I'd gain back 15 and so on and so forth. Now she weighs 110 soaking wet. PEOPLE!,!!!

I know everyone has feelings of doubt, but I'm more referring to all the threads I've seen lately about people regretting their decision.

I had mine done in Mexico and did not have a psych eval. Day 1 and 2 post op, I really did beat myself up - why did I do this??!! But I am day 4 now and things are much easier. I had lost over 100 pounds 6 years ago with a medically supervised diet and had a lot of counseling then, so prior to surgery I felt like I had a good handle on the psych part of this journey. I still do, but for the first couple days I had a lot of regret.

I started a thread some months ago called "bizarre trend" about this very topic because with the ever increasing popularity of this surgery I have been noticing more and more regrets.

I can tell you it's a pretty lively conversation. With blame being put on everything from advertising, impulsive behavior, low BMI, self pay, and plain ole stupidity with unrealistic expectations..

The one thing I can tell you, you are going to be hard pressed to get many "regret" people to answer your questions...

They do not want a way for you to "find" something they may have done wrong..

And I could be wrong but you are asking about the people that have true regrets not just the first week or two of "what the f**k did I do?"

I would ask her to explain what she means by that statement. Sometimes when people are asked what they meant, they realize how stupid they sound and don't repeat the mistake.

I had a psych eval, past it with flying colors, 18 days post-op and posted sometime last week that I'm still not "in love" with my sleeve like most people are. I have lost 11 lbs post-op, all within 10 days and have been in a 7 day stall. I have often had feelings of "maybe this is just not going to work for me like its supposed to". I walk about 5 miles a day, stay under 750 calories, get in all of my Protein and Water and still no improvement. If I was just dieting the same way I'm sure I would have lost as much by now.

I think if you wake up and realize 85% (or so) of a non diseased major organ was removed and don't ask, what the eff did I do? you probably have much larger issues than your weight! But the people who "this didn't get real for" until post op ... What do you say ? The reality is that it's gone and ain't going to grow back

Amen! Even though my surgery and recovery was very easy, I couldn't help but ask myself that question over and over. I would do it again in a heartbeat but that must be addressed in one's mind.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
