I have my surgery 7/22 and I have been on a 5 small meals a day with Protein in each eating plan and I have been finding myself super hungry at night and some nights I can handle it other nights I fail and eat like I haven't eaten all day! It's so frustrating because ill be successful all day and then BAM I sabotage myself! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I really need to get this under control!

I'd suggest changing the times of your meals. Are you hungry when you wake up in the morning? My NUT suggests to only eat when you're truly hungry. So, maybe you could start Breakfast later and also push back your other meals to avoid late night hunger.

Thanks Miss_cee85 that is a really good idea, I've been so programmed to make sure i ate as soon as i got up whether i was hungry or not. I was considering have a Protein Shake when i started feeling hungry too.

Definitely make your last meal of the day high Protein and very low carb to hold off those nasty cravings and tummy rumblies. And drink plenty of Water, too!

I try to eat dinner later in the evening. Also, save a few calories and eat something filling. A glass of skim milk, a cup of fat free greek yogurt, low fat string cheese are all good after dinner snack options.

I also have something hot to drink such as sugarfree hot cider, Sleepytime Tea, or Decaf coffee.

Make sure you are eating whole grains, lots of veggies, lean Protein, low or non-fat dairy, and a little fruit. These foods will stay with you longer and help keep you feeling full.

Thank you so much for suggestions worked yesterday and I know it's going to work tonight cause I'm just sitting down for dinner! Brushing my teeth helped too which was another suggestion someone gave me! The tea really helped too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
