GGJIMENEZ 5 Posted June 4, 2013 I was sleeved April 30 and regret the surgery SO much. I'm miserable and nauseas daily and can't eat barely anything. When I try I vomit. I thought this would be so different. I was told before surgery I would be able to eat anything, just less of a portion. I'm not able to even take a few bites without being miserable and it vomiting. It is depressing me and making me physically ill. Irreversable... What was I thinking.
Lannie2202 25 Posted June 4, 2013 Are you taking a ppi? That might help..... Hope you figure it out soon
Chelenka 827 Posted June 4, 2013 I am sorry you are so miserable. Have you called your Dr.? You shouldn't be having such difficulty at this point. You may have a stricture. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op
JessicaAnn 564 Posted June 4, 2013 Vomiting isn't normal unless your eating too much too fast. If not those reasons, definitely call your surgeon, it may me a stricture
GGJIMENEZ 5 Posted June 4, 2013 What's a ppi and stricture? Thank you for your responses. I honestly don't eat much. I'm talking a few bites. I had a lot of problems in he very beginning and couldn't even drink Water without feeling like I had a ball in my throat and couldn't drink my Protein Drinks. The Dr said it would get better and slowly it has but still can t get all my water in daily. I also have a huge ball knot internally under the main incision hat is very painful. He says it may be a hamatoma that formed where they had to repair a hernia and removed my stomach. I go back to dr in a couple months. I just wanna be able to eat a small portion of food without feeling like it is in my throat, and without vomiting.
Rox 200 Posted June 4, 2013 I am pre-op, and I have only been on this site for a few weeks. This is not the first time I have seen regret posted. It seems to pop up in the early weeks of being sleeved. As posted above, you should call your dr. to make sure there is nothing wrong. If there's nothing wrong physically, I would talk to your NUT and try to modify your diet. From what i've read you can eat small portions of all foods - but probably not at 5-6 wks. Not being able to eat is a common problem and everyone is different. If modifying your diet isn't working, maybe some counselling. I find it's amazing that everyone has to have a psych eval to get this surgery, yet after surgery it's not required. This is a huge physical and lifestyle change

And a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) is for acid. Like Zantac, omeprazole, etc.
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted June 4, 2013 Goodness.. This sounds awful! I can't imagine .. You've been unable to eat for over a month and your dr said that's ok? You need to be checked out or you're going to become unhealthy. I'm so sorry your going through this and hope you get some answers soon.
Jenn31MA 149 Posted June 4, 2013 At first your stomach is swollen and i know the first two weeks i was on liquid and yogurt, cottage cheese etc. I wasnt allowed to add in chicken and tuna until week 3 or 4. Your stomach is swollen for the first couple months and it does get better but you shouldnt be feeling the way you feel so far out. I would ask to see your Dr just to rule anything out (not to freak you out) but better safe then sorry. I am sorry you are going through this but hopefully you can at least get some Protein Shakes down to help you out so you dont get dehydrated and malnurished..Keep us posted. KimMarh 99 Posted June 4, 2013 Call your doctor, vomitting is not normal. But you have to keep a positive attitude, and remember every day will get easier.
KristinLeigh 1 Posted June 4, 2013 my Dr told me that it would take a minimum of 4 weeks to start eating solid foods again after surgery. And it was going to have be to healthy foods.. you wont be able to just eat anything you want..so consult your nutrionsit for an aftercare diet.. also according to the paperwork and diet I was given from my Dr.. it takes a bit to be able to even drink the Water you need.. according to what they showed me i was going to have to "work my way up" to drinking 64 oz a day. I was also told to expect to be only able to eat a few small bites of food before feeling full. Just make sure those bites are of protein!! Vomiting, while not necessarily "normal" can happen and I was warned up front about it...also was warned on the dangers of too much sugar causing a "dumping" syndrome and messy things happening from "the other end"... like everyone else said..id consult your dr, and try to work on listening to what your body is telling you about the food.. sounds like you might be trying to eat too much... even tho its still just a small amouint compared to what we all normally ate pre-op. Best of luck!
oldskoolsooz 24 Posted June 4, 2013 I felt truly horrible weeks 1,2, and 3! A lot of pain and foods was weird and even painful. I was a true mess..feeling depressed and angry and so so tired. I was told to eat liquids and pureed food only those three weeks. I only started to feel better after almost a month! But now at week 5 I'm finally smiling again. I checked with my doctor before surgery and he had told me vomiting is not normal and may actually hurt you/your stomach. I agree with the others who have posted. Get in to see your doctor asap. If he's not available, see your nutritionist..someone! Miserable and alone is not where you should be right now.
riss523 26 Posted June 4, 2013 I was sleeved on April 16th. I am also having the same problem. When I talked to my surgeon about it he didn't seem concerned. Then I talked to my nut who was concerned. She talked to the surgeon who finally looked into it and found that my sleeve takes a bad curve so food gets stuck and it is very hard for me to digest or eat much of anything comfortably. But he says they won't do anything about it until about 6 months out. So definitely talk to your surgeon and nut. They may have to do another upper GI on you to see what's going on!!!!
