I stepped on the scale this morning and discovered that my weight had gone back up by 3 pounds in one day? I know I shouldn't weigh myself each day, but I get excited when I see the number go down. I'm so confused. I'm 2 weeks post-op. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, it happens to me about every 2 weeks. Don't know where it comes from, but I do continue to lose weight eventually.

I sometimes think it is caused by eating carbs. I read that when you're on a high Protein diet like we are, your glycogen stores get depleted. And when you eat carbs your body tries to convert the carbs into glycogen and replenish the stores.

The article said that the body stores 4 ounces of Water for every 1 ounce of glycogen stored. That could explain a sudden weight increase.

yes, this is actually pretty normal because of the manner in which Water is released from your body. It is an ongoing cycle of your muscles using up their glycogen stores, fat getting converted into glycogen, repeat. Your muscles require a lot of water to process the glycogen before letting the water go. Hence, your weight loss will be very much like a staircase over the months, stall a little, lose a little, stall a little, lose a little. You know your muscles are eating fat when the weight loss stalls out, but your clothes start fitting a little better. You want your muscles to eat fat from your body instead of carbs from your diet so it is most efficient to eat as low carb as possible to maximize the amount of fat that your muscles will eat. Good luck!

I am the poster child of why you shouldn't weigh everyday. On my 2 week preop diet, I started out losing 2lbs per week the first week, stalled, slowed down to 1lb per week, and stalled again until surgery. To add insult to injury, I gained 6 pounds in the 24 hours I was in the hospital :o :o :o

I got sleeved 5/28 - today is the first day I've seen decent weight loss in awhile. I lost 5lbs since yesterday. There are 3500 calories in a pound. I've been in calorie deficit since the start of my 2 week preop diet but there's just no way I had a 17500 calorie deficit yesterday .

I weigh myself everyday since the start of the 2 week preop diet because I wanted to see how my weight would fluctuate. The weight you see in my ticket is current as of the last Friday which I consider my official weight day.

I don't know anymore because I was driving myself into a depressed state. My doctor lets me come in once a month and weight :)

The same thing happens to me. I asked the surgeons PA and she said it could be either Water retention or stool. Yes... I was literally full of s$&t. Used a little MOM for the Constipation and within 2 days it was gone :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
