cookiebun 9 Posted June 3, 2013 I was going along fine post op (9 weeks) until about last week. I have been getting bloated super easily, even from Water. I notice I get more bloated on the days I don't poop. I used to poop every day preop, but now it's every 2-3 days. By the third day I can barely eat or drink. I'm taking gas x chewable to help short term. Is this part of an adjustment period? Should I try a mild laxative to help? I really try not to call the Dr (post op I hate my surgeon ). Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 3, 2013 Colace. It's not a stimulant, it's a stool softener. It make things ease out comfortably, if you catch my drift. 2 cookiebun and jacquelynn.mclean reacted to this

deltadawn817 106 Posted June 3, 2013 colace didn't work for me at all. It is just a softener. Apple juice always helped me. 1 cookiebun reacted to this
Joy0125 95 Posted June 4, 2013 I didn't have any problems until about the time you are. I had never been constipated a day in my life before then. My surgeon gavel a script for stool softener but it was over the counter. It does the trick. I didn't want to take it but quite honestly I have to or I am very uncomfortable. I also talked to my pcp about it and he said softeners are fine but to avoid laxatives because your body can become dependent on them. Good luck! 1 cookiebun reacted to this

I'm only 2 weeks post op, but I found something that helps significantly with the gas, bloating, smell etc. It's called CharcoCaps, sold at Walmart in the Gas-X area. I used Gas-X for years, and after finding this product I won't be going back. I also use "Colon Clenz" Herbal colon formula, also found at Walmart. It's far more gentle than any other laxative. I also take Chlorophyll caps and Probiotics. 1 cookiebun reacted to this
shoopaie 26 Posted June 4, 2013 Raisin bran, banana, sprinkle some of that metamucil that is tasteless into your drinks or put on mashed tatoes etc. If your feeling blocked up now, go ahead and get a softener or something. Once you get breakthrough start usings above tips if you can. A large increase of Protein will cause Constipation. Livestrong.com suggests fitting in some fruit and increasing liquids. Best of luck to you. I am dealing with this issue myself. The above tricks all work for me. 1 cookiebun reacted to this
