Hey all…week is almost over! :P

On my way into the office today, I was thinking of all I had to do for the holidays as well as all the pre stuff I need to do before my 1/30 surgery date (shopping for items I'll need), etc. And I said outloud in the car…"This will be my last 'fat' Christmas". I just started crying. I've been fat for many of my 37 years now. I may not be at 'goal', may not be 'skinny' a year from now - but I know that I won't be 'fat'. WOW - it just really hit me like a ton of bricks, I guess b/c I never, ever think of my 'end result' of this surgery and all the effort I have already put in plus all the effort I will be putting in.

Whew!:faint:

Hi Sherilynn, that is a great way to look at things. I have to remind myself of that every day. I'm down 34 lbs and 72 lbs since my high. It nicr to not be in a size 24 anymore. Good luck.

My parents hosted a wonderful Christmas Eve, lots of family; and tons of food. I have it in my mind to be sure to 'enjoy' this holiday - the last with a full sized tummy. Funny thing happend to me, before all the company, before the music and drink...I went to the fridge and sort of froze there a moment. I started to cry. I am not sure it's b/c NEXT Christmas I won't be fat; or if it's b/c NEXT Christmas, I can't eat all this yummy stuff. I hope it's not the later; as I don't want food to be a reason I doubt my upcoming surgery.

Can you tell I'm getting jitters??? hehehe:faint:

Sherilynn

Tonite we celebrated the holidays with some family and our annual Chinese food. First let me say I LOVE CHINESE food. Whew! Now let me tell you that I ate most of the same stuff I would have eaten several months ago just a whole lot less of it!! I enjoyed my meal, ate it slow and totally enjoyed it.

It is honestly one of the best feelings to be full but not stuffed on food you love.

For me, I know that I can't simply eat less of this type of food. Its junk and its not good for me. Tomorrow I will be back to better, healthier choices but I won't feel deprived because I know I can still eat the "junk" I love every now and then.

Good luck, its a great gift to give yourself.

I totally know what you mean about your "last" fat Christmas! I was hoping for a December surgery but by the time insurance came through it is now going to be February 1. It is such a blessing because I'm not sure if I was ready to give up my last fat Christmas mentally.....does that make any sense. There has now been time to deal with it and hopefully it'll all sink in when the time comes! As for the fridge crying.....in a year from now you'll be laughing at all that food while holding up your pants so they don't fall down from being too baggy!

Thanks 3Beauties...I know in my 'logical' mind that you're right; but it's my tummy mind that had me thinking differently.

3Jacks...You put a tear in my eye...as you're OH SO RIGHT...I am thinking of hanging this years Christmas Outfit on the fireplace next year, instead of my stocking. lol

You are so right! The difference from this Christmas to next will amaze you! I remember feeling that way last year. (I am not at goal, but not "fat" anymore either...like you predict for yourself by next Christmas!) The thing that makes me sad is that I dont have one single picture of ME from last Christmas, not one picture with any of my family.....I was 2 months post op but still over 200lbs and heavier than any of my extended family had ever seen me. I had gotten so used to being the one to take pictures just so I wouldnt be IN them, lol! This year I alternated between taking some pictures and asking others to take them so I could have some with me and my dad, me and husband, me and my neice, etc... I even have a hard time finding "before" pics because I am usually hiding behind someone or not in them at all. The band has totally changed my life and I cant wait to see you posting next year about what a great Christmas you have had and how healthy and happy you feel!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
