I'm starting my pre-op liquid diet in the morning and I am dreaming out!!! We still haven't heard about what my husbands doing. (He's in Kuwait...should be on his way home) and the closer it gets to tomorrow the more I'm crying!?! I'm a pretty strong person, but I'm a hot mess right now. Like I'm doubting myself, I'm double guessing, I'm moody, I'm crying....and the liquids haven't even started. :/

Sounds like you are where I was a few days before my surgery. I actually contemplated backing out on the drive to the hospital but reminded myself of all the reasons why I was doing this. It's a personal decision and I don't have the answers for you. I just posted my experience under General Gastric Sleeve Surgery Discussion which might give you an idea of what to expect. Sounds like everyone's experience is a bit different based on their surgeon, hospital, etc... I wish you the best of luck and can reassure you I've found fantastic support here.

Well...I am glad your husband is on his way home...as far as your liquid diet goes...it was very easy for me and I had 3 kids and and ole man to cook for still. You get unlimited liquids...I loved better than boulion...that and sherbert were my saviors...at the 1st sign that you want to eat drink something or eat some sherbert.

I think we all go through that. I tried to convince myself that I could lose the weight again and keep it off but of course I was kidding myself. I hated myself for having made the painful decision to have surgery. I tried to use the 18 months I spent fighting with my insurance company as a sign that I should not do this. I told myself that I would be the unicorn who would have the surgery and not lose weight. I was finally sleeved on 2/19/13 and I am now 70lbs lighter and this time I will be successful keeping the weight off for permanently. This forum is a great place for advice, feedback and in some cases tough love. Good luck to on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
