My wife and I was both sleeved in May of 2013! Its funny how now we realize everything we did revolved around food! Family get togethers cookouts nights out with friends just about everything! It's a bit depressing sometimes watching everyone eat but it's all good we're losing weight and that's what we wanted! We went grocery shopping yesterday and we really read labels and count fat grams and calories etc. I can't believe the junk we used to eat! I'm trying to learn eat to live not live to eat!

I just came from the grocery store. I'm still on full liquids so had cottage cheese, SF popsicles, chicken broth, refried Beans and yogurt in my cart.

The guy behind me was unloading his cart full of non-diet pop, processed meats, chips, etc... Granted he was probably having a cook-out but now that I'm in this mind-set it just all looked kinda gross. I do plan on participating in BBQ's etc... again but hope to make better food choices:)

Since we can only put so much food in our pouch, why not choose the healthiest and tastiest options? Wow, there are some really delicious recipes out there that are both nutritious and low carb/fat, etc. I'm going to still have cookouts, I'll just cook the "heavy fillers" for the guest and make sure I put in a couple of "healthy gourmet dishes" for us body conscious peeps. No need to suffer in our journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
