I'm 1 yr and months out from being smoke free I read on this forum that stop smoking makes you gain weight and honesty it's true .. So the ppl who wanna stop smoking what of you stop a yr after being sleeved and gain weight it would be a waste of your money .. I gained 25 pounds when I stop smoking at the beginning of my journey .. I just thought it was something to think about its something I think about .. I'm struggling everyday w staying smoke free because I was a stress smoker and eater and now that I really don't or smoke it's hard to deal w the stress .. Gaining weight back is more fearful

Can't say enough about how easy it was to transition to e-cigarettes...and they're (my) doctor approved! I don't miss smoking at all!

After smoking for 17 years I also quit by using an e cigarette. I smoked that for one year and now I am completely smoke free and losing weight! I highly recommend the e cigarette!

Yes, I still vape. My doctor is fine with that habit, so I've decided that there's no need for the nicotine withdrawal at this time.

I was using the vap, then I got a nicotine patch, quit the patch & bought some liquid with no nicotine since its the nicotine they say is bad. We'll see...

My doctor is very hesitant to sleeve smokers. They said (don't know if it's a scare tactic or true) but it can put an ulcer on your small stomach. I quit about 8 years ago, then started back up after my second child was pure colic for 5 months (6 years ago) ... quit again after I couldn't breathe, and haven't looked back. The only time I've craved it since was when I was pregnant with my 3rd child. Most crave food but I wanted a cig. I was good though and kept my cravings in my head only :D

I remember the days of smoking in restaurants. Seems so long ago!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
