devine.adon 49 Posted June 2, 2013 I was planning on ordering medifast for my 21 day liquid diet phase before surgery however after looking at the medifast website I'm thinking these foods may not be considered a liquid diet? I've known a lot of people to go on medifast before the surgery but I'm wondering if it is the right thing to do? I need something fast, and easy to grab bc these weeks before surgery I must be at work allot of hours so I can get things done before all my time off. Need all the suggestions, opinions and info I can get!! I have to start my liquid phase on June 22. Peace )
No game 14,437 Posted June 2, 2013 I know my surgeon had me on Optifast I think it's about the same thing. Looking at the ingredients now it doesn't seem optimal, but it worked and it what the doctor ordered.
taurabird 142 Posted June 2, 2013 2 most important things about the preop diet for most of us is to keep your protien high and carbs low. This is to prepare your liver to shrink and to boost your total Protein levels so you can bounce back after surgery. So if the diets meet those requirements your doctor should let you know. 1 SassySenior reacted to this
JoiaRox 430 Posted June 2, 2013 Run it by your doctor - ultimately, s/he has to be your partner in this. Keep him/her informed of what you plan to do, what you're doing, etc. and they'll walk the path with you! If you don't have a doctor you feel that open with...well, from my former, horrible LapBand experience...find a new doctor.
