QUOTE="Carol1560"]Girl,

There is no way you are hungry. It was hard for me too!

I was hungry a few days after surgery and at six and a half weeks I am STILL hungry. Yes it's a true hunger NOT head hunger and I checked with my nutritionist and surgeon and it happens. I even doubted my sleeve up until yesterday big time since I seemed to have no restriction and could eat so much! Well yesterday I went out to Celebrate my best friends birthday. Long story short, I now believe the sleeve restricts lol! Though it felt horrible I don't regret it because I feel better knowing that though I will never be one of those 3 spoonfuls and I'm full people I can't pig out add I used to! To the poster of this string..I felt crappy dissed and angry till four weeks out when I could stay eating real foods again. Now at over six weeks where I can eat almost everything I feel better. I can't eat as much as I used to but all the food I've re-introduced have been tolerated :-) hand in there..it gets better! I doubted it too :-)

It always goes back to the old saying " we always want what we cant have" somehow some way you have to find another way to overcome this way of thinking. It can be done, look at how many people have succeeded with this surgery so far.

When you get to some more 'normal' foods it will all start to seem doable again. Like an earlier poster scrambled eggs made my day/week/month. Baked beans' date=' chicken casserole, bolognaise sauce all good too and nice and soft - with my dr ok after 4 weeks.

I really like Soup so am lucky with that. I bought some lovely Thai Soups and added natural (no flavour) Protein powder to those.

Time will keep on passing and you'll experience lots of changes with it. With a bit of luck your 'new normal' will be much like your old one, but with smaller portion sizes. That's not too hard to live with.[/quote']

G'Day, Something for me to look forward to I'm being sleeved Friday at NYU can't wait :) I'm on my liquid hell right now :( never thought I would look forward to baked Beans Lol I would love a burger to go with that !! Hope your doing ok down under :)

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
