3 days to surgery, any food suggestions for post op liquid diet?

Recommended Posts

So 3 days until my surgery and Im wondering what the favorites are for the liquid part of the diet? I know the normal, SF Jello, crystal light, Water, broth, etc. mostly worried about the Protein? Did people use a specific kind. I know of the Unjury unflavored, is there any others that I can actually buy at a store instead of online? Any suggestions would help to creatively change up the dreaded liquid diet!! Thank you!!

I like the nectar Cookies n cream flavored Protein Powder. It tastes great and I ordered it on Amazon bc if you spend $25 you get free shipping. Each tub is $24.95 so I had to order two, but will def use both.

I get sleeved the 24th, but I have tried all the flavors of Isopure Protein Water. It's clear. They have a ton of flavors. The ones I thought I'd like were awful and the ones I thought would be gross, I ended up liking. I love the coconut, grape frost and raspberryblue. They run almost $4 a bottle but they are 20oz. bottles with 40 grams of protein. Im gonna count on using those for the first week to make sure I get my water and protein in. I got mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I also pack my "blender" container with ice and pour the isopure and it gets watered down. You don't notice the after taste of the drink as much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
