anggeorge 12 Posted June 1, 2013 Hello! I am just wondering how people are eating if they have had their band removed and waiting 90 days for the sleeve procedure. I don't want to go back to unhealthy eating, because I know the 2 week pre-op fast will arrive soon. I've already become accustomed to not really eating solids. Yesterday and today were the first days I actually ate a meal; I am one week post op. I know 90 days will go by fast, but will it be fast enough? Thanks in advance! Very curious as to the replies. Takingcontrol 467 Posted June 1, 2013 II am 5 1/2 mo out. I can eat anything...nothing bothers me, but I have chosen to use the sleeve as the tool it is & I have changed my eating habits! I eat healthy & focus on Proteins first,..usually fish, turkey or chicken, than veggies if I have room. I eat 600-800 cal a day usually. I don't focus on cal....just Protein & low carbs. I admit, I do indulge myself every once in awhile & have a bite or two of something I really want...but the majority of the time I stay on target. This is a lifestyle change for me...not a diet! Good luck!

But what i am curious about is: Did you have one or two surgeries and how did you eat during the 90 days before the second surgery? 1 lotti reacted to this
rebecca_dsu 241 Posted June 1, 2013 I don't think she quite understood which surgery you meant...ha! Takingcontrol... they've had their lap band removed (surgery 1) and is asking what/how people are eating in the window before surgery 2 which will be the sleeve. (Not after sleeve surgery) 1 Dee White reacted to this
k8ee 131 Posted June 1, 2013 I really struggled in the 3 month period after the band removal. With no restrictions and nothing to tell you that you are full I just ate and ate! I put on 7kg which is 15lb but my surgeon expected that!
anggeorge 12 Posted June 1, 2013 Thank you, Rebecca! I wasn't sure how to word what I wanted to ask. I am struggling mentally right now. I am still swollen from surgery and thinking everyone is starring at me thinking that I failed. Which is really funny because normally I don't care what anyone thinks of me or my choice to have weight loss surgery. I guess I will just keep moving forward and try to remember that there will be a happy ending.
zempress 4 Posted June 4, 2013 Why do you have to have two surgeries? I had the band removed and had the sleeve in the same procedure.

sherrypep 91 Posted June 4, 2013 I had my revision in one surgery on May 6th. My Dr. said the longer you have the band in the more damage it can do to your stomach thus two surgeries for some. My band was only in for 16 months so I was good to go. I had no preop diet except for the day before. I just went for my post op one month today and I went from 164.5 to 148.5 in four weeks. I am eating regular food now because my Dr. doesn't have as strict diet guidelines as some others and have had minimal problems. I can eat chicken, chili, potatoes, veggies, and even tried a quesadia and a wake up egg white wrap from Dunkin donuts. I feel so much better. No pain when I eat. The only thing hard to get used to is with the band if your bite of food isn't going down you know immediately. With the sleeve I have eaten things and been fine and then get a big stomach ache and diahrea about 20-30 minutes after eating if it doesn't agree with me. It happened with cream Soup about 2.5 weeks out. Best of luck, you will do great!
anggeorge 12 Posted June 5, 2013 Well my surgery wasn't an anomaly, I assure you. It's strictly at the surgeon's discretion and the condition and health of the stomach. My band was in for three years and it misshaped the stomach; it actually slipped at about 2 years. Trust me, if I had the choice I would have done one procedure. Surgeon's generally wait about 90 days to perform the sleeve operation, which allows the stomach time to regain it's original form.

anggeorge 12 Posted June 5, 2013 Thank you, K8ee! How was your diet during the waiting period?
k8ee 131 Posted June 5, 2013 Thank you' date=' K8ee! How was your diet during the waiting period?[/quote'] It started really good then I noticed I just got really hungry all the time. It was so hard to be good when you are tempted!! After the problems with the band I had enough of worrying about what I ate and for a month then got back on track in preparation for the sleeve and a new lifestyle.
