My surgery was Wed. morning and while in the hospital I felt fine. I decided I didn't want to use pain meds when I went home and that has been ok. I am sore but nothing serious. My problem is I feel like throwing up all the time. I did get a prescription for it today and it did help a tad. Anyone else feel this way. Not being able to handle the clear liquid phase? Any advice for me?

I can't offer help because I haven't had my surgery yet but I have had surgery and I had no clue that I get super nauseated after..I had a hour and a half ride home and that was hell then hours after being home I threw up...I tell you I would rather be in pain than feel nauseated all the time so I know how you feel. I will tell them the moment I step into the hospital to put me on some good meds lol.

At superstarsandi... My surgery was Wed morning also. I like you have not been in unmanageable pain, but have been so nauseated. Dr' s office said it could still be anesthesia or post nasal drip. I was instructed to take a Zyrtec and force Water when could to push post nasal drip up and out and take the allergy medicine to dry it up. Seemed to help somewhat yesterday. Today has been little better,I am beginning to tolerate fluids and Protein. Let me know if you find a cure for it because I hate being nauseated worse than anything.

Thank you! I did get a nausea med and that has been working some. I feel better each day. I have not thrown up since yesterday morning so that makes me feel a little better. I am starting to get some fluids in. I am praying I continue to get better each day.

I am also 2 days post gastric sleeve right now and was able to come today. I only had gas cramps the first day but immediantly started getting up and walking every hour once I was put in a hospital room. The quicker I was up and moving and rolling over the gas moved and the pain went away. I feel fine, but have a drain tube coming out of my left side until next Thursday for my one week post op appointment. I am not hungry and not nauseated at all and barely even used my morphine pump while at the hospital. We will see how this afternoon and tomorrow go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
