Alyjourneys 117 Posted May 31, 2013 So I have read some threads and I guess I wanted a little clarification. I've read that since our stomachs are swollen during the healing period it can feel like our stomachs can hold more food. Is this true? Or am I reading it wrong. Lisha73 97 Posted May 31, 2013 Havent heard that one before...today I had 2-3 oz of Soup in a bowl and got like halfway through and I was done... 1 Alyjourneys reacted to this
notime 340 Posted May 31, 2013 I must have missed that and I don't see how it could be unless I am misunderstanding. My experience was that at first, because my stomach was swollen, I could hold less food and I felt full with less food. As the stomach healed, I was able to eat more and more. ChristineR 128 Posted May 31, 2013 When your stomach is so swollen after the surgery it's hard to get anything in there which is why the all liquid diet is a great/safe way to start. As the healing continues, the swelling goes down and then you will be able to hold 2-4 oz and move on to pureed/mooshy food
Mrs Havelock 154 Posted May 31, 2013 It's also to do with your stomach's nerves being severed during surgery. The resulting numbness can temporarily disguise how full you are.

ASKSARAH - Sleeve 256 Posted May 31, 2013 No your not misunderstanding. People say things like I feel like I am eating all day when they are new , its because they are! But they are drinking liquids all day and don;t realize how little it actually is. But yeah they say they feel like they can eat more because they are drinking all day.
