2 days since surgery

Recommended Posts

I have not had any problems from this at all. The first day I got home at 2:00 I was out sleeping bc of the meds. The second I was on the tredmill 2 times to not get gas and kina sore that day. Getting up was hard. The third I was emotional but no pain. The 4th I was good. Went shopping, drove an hour to see my parents, and did the tredmill. No pain at all. Today the 5th day I am going to go help my parents clean their house because they are moving. I will not lift anything but I can clean. I do have a secret that is kina to much info! When I had my gallbladder out I did not want gas pains and same with this. What I did was as soon as I get home from the hospital I take a Dulcolax laxative supository (wrong spelling). and it cleans me out. During the cleaning out time, I release all the gas. It has worked 2 times for me. One reason I also do this is because I get stopped up from pain meds and I think that it would make the gas worse. Hope this helps.

I am 10 days post op and feel great. I occasionally get some gas pressure in my belly but as others have said walking and stretching really does help.

I haven't taken the pain meds since day 3 because they made me sick. I just gutted it out so that I wouldn't throw up. Also, Rolaids Heartburn plus Gas Relief helped me.

My hunger returned on Christmas day but it can be satisfied with the liquid diet. I get to move to mushies on Wednesday. I am really excited for new foods. I can't wait to eat something that I can chew. :hungry:

I am having trouble with knowing what the feelings in my stomach are though. I feel uncomfortable but I don't know if it's hunger or something else.

For those struggling on their liquid post-op diet...

Don't be afraid to ask a restaurant to strain an order of Soup for you. There are only so many varieties of Campbell's that taste good. I have had great success with restaurants in my area doing this for me. Chili's chicken Enchilada Soup is the BEST!

Hi all,

I have been reading al lof this with great interest. I have not been banded yet as I have just started the journey.

But I can offer some insight into the gas/pain/vomiting issue. I have had so many abnominal surgeries in the past 15 years I have lost count. The first time I had a surgury I thought I was having a heart attack if I took even somewhat of a deep breath. They told me this was normal with anytype of abdominal surgery as the gases build in the abdominal cavity and need to be reabsorded into the body. It seemed to last about a week or so and got slightly better each day. Pain meds WILL MAKE you constipated. Not only have I had the numerous abdominal surgeries but 3 spinal surgeries where I wished they would have just shot me instead. Pain killers and I got to be very good friends for weeks after each procedures. There were times that I thought I would never have another BM again. This of course causes the horrible belly ache which I am sure with the Lap Band procedures is 100 times worse then what I experienced. Days of vomiting for me after any surgery is normal due to my reaction to the morphine/antheshia procedure. Even the thought of food would make my saliva glands start and the dryheaving begin. Ice chips are the way to go. So some of the vomiting may just be residual from the pain killers in the system also.

I'm of no help I know with any of this in ralation to the LapBand but I hope some of my experiences may help ease your minds that some of this may not be directly related to the Band but just to the surgery in general.

Best of luck to all of you in your journeys!!

Jeanette

They give you stuff to keep the anaesthesia from making you throw up. I have the same problem but they give me something and it helps a lot. I didn't throw up.

I am walking and am not constipated but the gas is torture. I am almost never comfortable. It moves. Yes, the chest and shoulder area is scary but they warned me ahead of time about that.

I am off the pain killers but may have to go on for the gas. The incisions were never extremely painful. The port(the largest one I think) is the most and still is a bit.

I am trying to drink more Water. I got a urinary tract infection - not drinking enough Water. So now I have another pill to grind and get down. Those can't help the gas.

Help! Gas-x isn't doing it.

Congratulations on getting banded! My banding was on the 19th. I didn't have any hiccups or gas pains.

The pain you feel trying to move around will pass soon. I think I could finally move comfortably around Day 4 or 5.

Send someone to the store to get you some chewable Gas-X and take one with every "meal." It's a beautiful thing not to be stuck with painful gas bubbles!

Good luck on your journey!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
