Does drinking fast actually cause your sleeve harm or does it just hurt? Its 95 degrees here, humid and we have an air quality alert and my effin car's ac decided to break now...now I'm slightly dehydrated, breathing hard and light headed. Can I gulp the Water and just suffer the pain?

Look at your watch and try to take a decent sip every minute try to accomplish 8 ounces in 1 hour and that should do it

It could cause vomiting which would dehydrate you more. I asked this same question at my 2 week post op today because summer is here and I am always thirsty now.

Sipping is safer.

Don't chance irritating your new sleeve causing you not to be able to even sip efficiently.

I kinda gulp and it does not hurt my sleeve at all. If I sipped all day then I would never get any fluids in. I'm in meetings and on the phone all day at work, so sipping just doesnt work.

Sip only, I know cold Water sounds refreshing but drinking room temperature liquids sometimes goes easier on the tummy. I ended up in the hospital for 2 days because I was dehydrated. I hope you feel better!

It wasn't about it being refreshing it was because I didn't want to go to hospital

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
