quackstitch 10 Posted May 31, 2013 bsbcMI, the only way to get rewarded with a very fast surgery date is to eat yourself up to 50 and over bmi and it doesn't matter what or how many co-morbidities you have, you can never get a quicker surgery date, the only thing that matters is exactly how fat you are 1 Brenda0928 reacted to this

Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted May 31, 2013 That's so crazy.....Considering many surgeons don't want to do the surgery at a 50 or above BMI. Frustrating none the least... 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
kailie 238 Posted May 31, 2013 Because this procedure was initially started for FAAAT people like myself! Not just heavy people who have a hard time dieting. Saying someone who "has eaten them self to a bmi over 50" gets the "reward" sooner is EXTREMLY RUDE. 13 Nuchnuch, kimmysmash, deedeemuffin and 10 others reacted to this

It seems that you are unhappy about your six month diet requirements... But saying that it is unfair and that fatter people than you should have to prove they can do six months and not people like you, Is somewhat rude don't you think? After all you are on a vsg website there are plenty of "super fat" people here. 15 Mommagiraffe, MichiganChic, Sadtosaygoodbye and 12 others reacted to this
Nicolanz 1,484 Posted May 31, 2013 I'm sure there's reason. You could be super impatient like me and just go to Mexico! 5 kailie, thedivinemsQ, Brenda0928 and 2 others reacted to this
gmanbat 5,889 Posted May 31, 2013 My question: what is the great advantage of a quick surgery date, other than satisfying impatience, that is? If it is a medical emergency such as get the sleeve next week or die, it is understandable. My bmi was only 41 with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and diabetes. I was not put back by the 6 month wait. I needed the time to research, set my brain, and prepare for the rest of my life. When you have lived 64 years, 6 months is but a moment. I needed the time. Adjusting was rough enough. My time researching and getting my mind right prepared me for the battles ahead. There are quite a few folks on this forum that can't get the insurance to pay for the surgery, 6 months wait or not. They would take the 6 months gladly. 16 PrettyxInxInkx, MrsPierre, Butterthebean and 13 others reacted to this
quackstitch 10 Posted May 31, 2013 no, i don't want it done unfairly, everybody should have to do the same requirements with the same insurance company--- well in fairyland I guess that might happen-- I am very fat, and did eat myself up to where i am---(if I had known 50 was the magic number I would have tried harder) - if the rest of you didn't, well you are saints or something-- I'm also old and every month counts -- once i have a date i will be the most pleasant old lady you could find-- it's the waiting that's got me on edge and making my stomach feel like there's a cement fist grinding in there
No game 14,437 Posted May 31, 2013 It's our fast food nation I want everything NOW NOW NOW mentality... I'm not putting anyone down on it because I am compulsive and impatient too. But it's not going to help if you just get bitter and blame others.. It's just going to fester and sit like a a heavier weight on you. 7 quackstitch, AmandaRaeLeo, TES and 4 others reacted to this

kailie 238 Posted May 31, 2013 I for one didn't "eat myself fat" I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome which ballooned me to a 50+bmi.. My obgyn informed me that I could live off salads and still gain wait because my body makes and retains a TON of insulin but my pcos isn't considered a co morbidity. I'm 25 5'7" 345lbs I have herniated disks in my back and joint pain in my knees and feet. I could do the 6 months of dieting, but I'm not able to excersize... So my bcbs of MI should make me wait another 6 months and watch my weight climb higher or I die of a heart attack in the mean time? Some times whining about ur situation isn't the most mature thing to do. Instead stay positive the time will pass by more quickly. You get ur surgery some don't. 6 months is just your time to prepare for the new life waiting for you. 9 awifeinmichigan, LI Gemini NY, Brenda0928 and 6 others reacted to this

LI Gemini NY 607 Posted May 31, 2013 I "ate my way up " to 51 BMI, now 48 and I still have to wait for my "reward" where I may have serious health problems and complications or even die... I think I'm from another planet because the word "reward" means something totally different to me 15 Brenda0928, Heartonsleeve, TES and 12 others reacted to this
