Thanks all! The article made great sense and has me mentally calmed. Thanks for all the encouragement and support- I think I am in my old pattern of thinking - that nothing ever works! This time I have to believe it will and be Patient!!!

Did you lose a lot preop? I lost 13 preop, 12 in the first 10 days post op, then stalled for 2 weeks with 1-2 fluctuations. Just broke the stall this morning. Don't worry, just keep doing what ur doing. I know how frustrating it is. The worse is when people keep asking how much more have you lost. I just say, oh it's slowed down a little but I'm still losing.

Also, our bodies DO make decisions for us. Things that are out of our control at least temporarily. A stall a this point may be totally normal for you. And it may not even be a stall. I'm sick people who try to blame a slight fluctuation in weight or a stall on the person experiencing it. It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong except beating yourself up. I do not think going back to liquids is a good idea, either. You need to be able to eat nutrient rich real food. Don't backtrack. Just follow your docs guidance, get your Vitamins and fluids and try, try, try to be patient (I need to do this too :))

I'm glad that you are feeling better. I have had a hard time getting around my own "old pattern of thinking". Before surgery I had lost & regained the same 30 lbs over & over again for years. Well, wouldn't you know my first stall came right around that 30 lb mark. I was convinced for the 3 weeks that followed that I had had surgery for no reason. That my body wasn't going to let me lose anymore. As you can see on my signature I am far past 30 lbs now. Just keep that positive attitude. It really helps.

I think you might have mis-understood what I was trying to say? I wasn't blaming the OP for her stall. I was saying that our mindset DOES impact our bodies and that by being worried and stressed, it actually can make it HARDER to lose weight. Obviously, scales will fluctuate. Water retention, swelling, building muscle, TOM for women...all affect those numbers on the scale. But WE still choose how to react to all of that, WE still choose to weigh too often or not, WE still choose what we eat, how much we exercise, etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
