mytime2shine 229 Posted May 31, 2013 I am on the pre-op diet. Just curious how much weight loss should happen on it? I'm averaging about 1/2 lb a day and was wanting to know if that's about right. THX & good luck to everyone ~~working my way towards the losers bench :@)
lnelson796 117 Posted May 31, 2013 I think your weight loss will vary by person. I know several people lose 15 to 20 and some don't lose much. I'm on day 11 and have lost 9 pounds and haven't lost any in the last 3 days even though I'm not cheating at all. But yet I have lost 1 1/2 inches in the waist this week so I can't complain. Just don't worry about how much you're losing and just realize the goal is to do your best to have your body ready for the surgeon. Good luck! 3 Arts137, ProudGrammy and Webchickadee reacted to this
BKLYNgal87 503 Posted May 31, 2013 My surgeon explained this to me - the rationale behind the pre-surgery high Protein low carb diet is to shrink your liver as much as possible. This makes access to your stomach easier. If you lose some weight then that's great, but if you don't, don't stress about it now. You haven't been sleeved yet, after all. Just stick to the diet as best you can so you can be in the best possible shape for surgery. You don't want your surgeon to get you on the OR table, incise and stick the lap cameras in only to say "patch her up!". Or worse yet, have him continue with the surgery and damage your liver. That would be VERY BAD. Good luck! 1 Webchickadee reacted to this
