Beautiful Wonderful Toast!

Recommended Posts

My hubby and I went out to Breakfast on Saturday (Firt time since being banded). I ordered one egg and toast... mind you... I haven't had bread in any shape or form post-op. Let me tell you... I have never enjoyed toast so much in my entire life!!! I felt guilty because I was actually able to eat 2 slices along with my egg... but then I thought... before ... I would have eaten 2 eggs... hashbrowns... bacon... and pancakes!

I was addicted to bread/carbs prior to surgery so I am actually a little scared to add them back into my diet. I think the difference would be that now I crave Protein and not carbs... weird.

I'm scared to death that I will lose restriction prior to my first fill... I am able to eat more now but still restricted enough to continue to lose weight and hope that will last until August 13th.

Toast is beautiful and it is so amazing how much more I enjoy food now that I take time to actually chew and taste! I Love my Band!!!!

I know... my hubby kept laughing at the look of total joy that was on my face as I ate that darn toast! He said I didn't look that happy even on our wedding day...LOL!!!!

I wish I were brave enough to try toast. I miss bread a lot. but the fear that it would get stuck is enough to keep me away from it.

I fluctuate between being able to eat bread and not being able to. If it is toast then I can eat a half piece. If it is bread un toasted then there is NO way I can do it. IT gets stuck and can't go either way. UGH!!! Which in actuality is a good thing. I was addicted to breads of any kind way shape or form. IT is like my chocolate. I love bread. So to not be able to eat any is a plus for me. The carbs are not good. And the calories aren't either. But toast and jelly or honey with a cup of coffee is a plus on occasion.

Oh the simple things how they pleasure us.

Darcy

When I read that you had gone out to Breakfast w/ your hubby, I thought you were going to say that he "toasted" you. I read on, all about your having toast, and how wonderful the toast was, and how much you enjoyed the toast. Then, I got to the end, and wondered "Where was the beautiful toast he made?" Duh? OK I need some solid foods for me! My brain in turning to mush ... and I'm not even allowed to eat mush yet!

Ha! So happy you are doing so well! I think if we're going to be band twins, you should have to wait for me to eat food ... even if you are the older twin! Oh, all right! Just don't over-enjoy it!

Ohhh Debra... that stage is still veeeeery fresh in my mind! I was thrilled just to have applesauce and yogurt... not things I would have been tickled to have pre-op...LOL. You're right... a supportive almost band twin would go back to liquids... hmmmm... BUT... perhaps think of it this way.... I am TESTING out different foods FOR you ahead of time!

A "Toast" to Debra... May the day of mushies come soon!

Penni... The two slices of toast went down "slicker than snot" as my Grandma used to say! I'm sure that when my day arrives for my first fill my days of toast and jelly will become a distant memory! I don't think I will ever have the courage to try regular bread... sounds like a PB waiting to happen!

Nancy... I almost wish I hadn't tried it... I was a total bread addict before and sure don't want to be again. It's funny though... I don't seem to crave carbs like I used to. I do hope I'll be able to have a slice of toasted bread now and then!

A "Toast" to bread... may it always be toasted and never get stuck!

I am pleased how "banded" life has been treating me so far !!!

Best wishes to you as you conitune your Jouney to a Healthier YOU !!!

Oh Cindy!

Homegrown toasted Tomato sandwiches? With butter? and salt and pepper? and a little swipe of mayo? I'm drooling! Nothing better!

And how 'bout number 2? Corn-on-the-cob? Michigan girl here! Ready to harvest! Can we have that? Eventually, I mean!

Then, take those tomatoes and slide them all over the plate you just finished the corn on! All full of butter and salt & pepper! OMG! I'm salivating! I'm so hungry!

I'm sorry if I broke anyone's willpower tonite! It's all Princess Cindy's fault! And that Darcy with her damn toast! Whaaaaaaa! Whaaaaaaaaa!

What kind of people are you, talking about home-grown tomatoes and corn at this time of night! How cruel! Now, my mouth's watering!

I'm too afraid to try toast. I tried a hard roll a few months ago and decided never again. It just would not go down. I have to stick to saltines once in a while.

I don't do bread much either, which is good. A year without bread is bound to show up somewhere, right? although, IF I do really want to at least taste it, sometimes just taking a pinch of it really does make me feel better about not having it.

Often we go out to eat at places where bread is served before the meal, so I'll just take some and pinch off of it while the others gorge themselves in preparation for the entre.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
