How much are you eating? I am 17 weeks post op and with chicken and fish I can eat 3-4 oz with red meat and pork its half that. Its much denser and I really have to chew chew chew and use lots of ketchup or whatever condiment I have handy. Hope that helps!

I was told to reintroduce foods' date=' only a few weeks out after surgery. Right now, I am a little over 6 weeks out, and I have only gotten sick twice. Both times was with red meat. Hamburgers to be exact. What I find confusing, and curious if anyone knows about is why Hamburger? I mean the first time, it was a half of a hamburger, made on the grill. We made sure to use lean meat. However, after a few bites, up it came. Happened again just a few days ago. However, things like meatballs, made from the same hamburger, I have no problem with. Is this odd, or does it have to do with how it is cooked?[/quote']

I was told that the grill dries out the meat so much that it cause blockage.

I was told I could have lean red meat but avoid steak. I have had zero issues with it. But it could be your body just doesn't tolerate it anymore. I would just scratch that off your list for now. I can't seem to handle chocolate flavors anymore (pudding, Protein powder) without feeling completely nauseated.

I did fine with everything but pork. But I realized the one time I tried and got sick it was too dry. So now I always have some type of sauce to dip it in if needed.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
