So thankful for all of your posts. I was sleeved on May 21st and am experiencing terrible back pain and still very sensitive to get up and down when sitting. I keep reading people who were sleeved the same day as I was and say they are having no pain. Thankful to know I am not the only one! Another reason why we shouldn't compare our journey to others...but was getting concerned that something may be wrong!

Hi everyone! I'm 16 days out and was so weak that I could barely function. The doc just told me to be patient' date=' that some people just take longer to heal. Well, today I had an appointment with my NUT and she knew the problem as soon as she saw my food logs. I was so focused on getting my Protein and liquids in, that I was not getting enough carbs to give me energy. She said that this was probably the only time I would hear this from her EVER, but told me into increase my carbs. She suggested I try to hit 50 grams a day a said I would notice a huge change. She made me eat a graham cracker and drink a cup of skim milk before heading home, because I was so shaky. The differnce in how I feel tonight is unreal! I have energy again! I was so obsessed with drinking a low carb Protein Drink, that I was only getting 15-20 carbs a day.

So.....just some food for thought for those of you who are week after surgery.[/quote']

What kind of carbs do u eat at 16 days post op? Ill only be eating yogurt, cottage cheese and eggs then

My NUT told me to add Apple juice to my Water, puréed fruit to my yogurts and cottage cheese, and drink skim milk if I can tolerate dairy. She also suggested a little Cream of Wheat for Breakfast. I carefully log everything into Fitness Pal, so she can clearly see my intake each day. This isn't a license to go carb crazy....we all know that's one of the things that got us here. She just suggested trying to get 50 g during this healing phase. At 15-20 carbs a day, I wasn't getting enough to give me the energy I needed to feel better.

Because the incisions are still healing...risk of infection.

thanks...that is what I was thinking...I love Water aerobics, but I don't think my incisions are healed enough yet either...my next visit with the surgeon is July 3--I hope by then he gives me the OK to start going to Water aerobics...I hope you also heal quickly

MariaL, No... I can take deep breaths, yawn, cough, sneeze, etc with no problem. But I can't stand or walk too long or I am doubled over in pain with my back. I still cant sleep comfortably on my bed, it hurts to lay on my right side and can't sleep on my back because of the pain. Ready for this to go away!

I am 6 weeks out and my energy came back just this past week. I feel great. I make sure I eat small portions every 3-4 hours and take my Vitamins religiously. I wasn't doing that before his week like I was suppose to (I have a huge aversion to any chewable pill) and I think sticking to both of those has made all the difference. Good luck. It gets better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
