I had surgery on the 21st. Still working on fluids and I'm really not getting much Protein. I simply cannot stand the shakes. My tastes have changed definitely! So I haven't weighed in yet. I'm kinda scared I haven't lost anything. Im actually afraid to get on the scale. What if i went through all this pain and money and dont lose a thing? I might wait til 2 weeks post. Lucky my batteries are dead...

I had surgery on the 23rd (one week ago today) I just weighed myself for the first time today! Didn't think I lost a lot but lost 20lbs!! As long as you dont get addicted to the scale...I will weigh in once a week I think

The dreaded scale! Give yourself some time to heal! It's gonna take more than a couple weeks to lose all that weight! I know it took me years to put it on! LOL So, hop on if you want to see if/what you've lost but don't let it discourage you! You WILL lose weight and you WILL feel better, just let your body heal and adjust to your new lifestyle. Don't let that scale control you! Just work on healing, getting in your fluids and Protein. Avoid the sugar and carbs and the pounds will fall off. I know the fluids/protein don't go down easily right now, but it does get better and a whole lot easier. I too hated those shakes after a couple of weeks. They get nasty quick. There is flavorless Protein Powder out there that you can add to anything, I found it at GNC. Also, Special K makes a protein Water mix that is pretty tasty, you just add it to water like Crystal Light. Good luck! Stay strong!

in the beginning I weighed once a month! It is not all about the scale. I look at myself as a retired dieter. Yes I watch my food but after 3 years I have maintained. my very best advise is FOLLOW YOUR PLAN!

and Keep logging in here. best to you on to skinney (yes you can be skinney!!)

In the beginning of my surgery I weighed like a mad women everyday! But it drove me nuts! So I weight in once a week only , measure every 1st of the month and take pics every 2 months in the same out fit :) That way if the scale dosnt go down then I have the measurements to fall back on:)

I still haven't weighed myself, but... I was able to button my work pants today without fearing for the lives of small children and women. I didn't spend the day praying my pants don't split when I squat to pick something up. I guess it's working!

I know I'm talking to myself lol. I still haven't weighed myself yet! I know I've lost a few pounds...my work uniform is baggy now, my belt doesn't make me a snowman anymore, I can bend down without fear of passing out or splitting my pants. I couldn't sleep last night and at about 4am decided to try on old (still with tags) dresses. Some of them actually fit. I'm going to wait until its officially one month. June 21st is right around the corner

I never weigh more often than every two weeks. It has served me well about not stressing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
