Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Hi! Someone said because it wasn't classed under "plastic surgery" it was bariatric then hospitals here will help me - but that's bad news for your Tummy Tuck sorry lol also my mom is so strict on me getting travel insurance when I'm just going to lay on the beach somewhere that she was having a panic attack about surgery overseas! Lol I don't know why but I wasn't really nervous or bothered - I was lucky and don't know what I would of done had something gone wrong over there. I now know I was in great hands. Lots of people from north America go back the following year to have the tummy tuck & boobs etc .. But again they're way closer... I guess u just have to take a leap of faith and research the best drs you can find. I hear Thailand is also very popular for us Australasians ... Did u go private or public here?

I went private. I would not have qualified for public. I went to a great bariatric specialist here in Auckland but she doesn't do the plastics unfortunately.

I know a few who have gone to Thailand for plastics so it may be worth exploring. I always get travel insurance when we travel (your Mum is right ;-)) and I had never thought about how there is probably an option for medical travel insurance so I will look into it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
