Anything is possible. I need to lose about that much as well, but I'm 6'2" and want to get to 200#. I figure it will not be quick. After the first 6 months, I'll be happy with 1 or 2# losses a week. BUT, we can get anywhere if we keep going, right?

Amen to ^. I couldn't put it any better. I had a revision so my BMI was low when I was sleeved and I am very happy with one pound a week as I had gained 30 in 6 months :)

I absolutely believe it is possible. The sleeve is an amazing tool when utilized correctly. Before my sleeve I would lose & regain the same 30 pounds over & over. After I got sleeved I dropped that 30 pounds fairly quickly & then hit a stall for 3 weeks. I was terrified that I was doomed to never lose any more. Well, I am now 6 months post op and down 101 pounds!

I still have well over 130 more to lose, but I know that I can do it if I just keep on my plan. If I get in my Protein, drink my Water & get in regular exercise I keep taking off weight. None of us who have been sleeved are perfect, but if you can get into some healthy habits it will definitely come off.

Everyone is different, but I have learned a couple things that have helped me. The first is don't compare yourself to others. There are people who are on the boards who have lost 100 pounds in 3 or 4 months. It took me 6 & others have taken longer than 6 months. This is YOUR journey & will be different from anyone elses. I weigh myself once, maybe twice per week. I was weighing every day & making myself crazy with the daily fluctuations. Realize that you will have stalls. Everyone does. It is just part of the process so, don't lose hope. Ask questions & connect to other people. This can be a very difficult process at times & the more support that you have the better.

The most important thing for me has been learning to accept my journey & learning to be kind to myself. I don't know about you, but it has been very hard for me to learn to put myself first. There are many people like you and me who have a longer journey ahead of us than others. We absolutely CAN do this though! :D

I sure hope so! I need to lose 215 from my highest weight... I know the next hundred will come off slower than the first hundred.. but I'm patient. It's a lot easier for me to be patient now that I'm sleeved and feeling satisfied with the amount of food I'm eating.. before my sleeve surgery, I was SO impatient with weight loss because it was so much torture to be eating such low calories and then not see the scale move.. Now, I'm like "eh, if it doesn't move this week, It will move eventually"..... and it always does!

I just got my approval, only shared with my husband and kids, 2 friends and cousin, I don't want to share with anyone else because of the negative comments I got when I would talk about the surgery, so I've kept my surgery process and approval quiet and I'll do the same for my surgery, which I find out the date this Friday. I have 200+ to lose and optimistic that I'll do ok. Just gotta stay focused.

I was sleeved on 8/9. I lost 20 pounds on pre op diet and another 10 dusting my first week. I started at 410, so I have about 250 lbs to lose. Boy, that sounds daunting, but we can do this!

Hello, I too have 200 to lose.

Ideally, I would get to 180 but talking to my doc and nut I would be happy at any number under 200. I am 5' 11''.

The way my nut has talked me through this so far makes sense. You have this magic window of about six months where your body is confused and focused on healing. In the first 6 months, you are a furnace because all your intake is being used to heal your stomach. So take advantage of it, follow the plan.

Eat what you should, stay around 600 calories (it isnt that bad, really) and then you know you are giving yourself the best possible start to this process. And you wont kick yourself wondering if only I hadn't had that grilled cheese or beer...I would be 30lbs less.

I have clearance right now to only walk, I am hoping that next appointment in Oct it will be for more.

Just remember you can do this. There are people who have successfully lost double what we have to lose.

Good luck on your journey!

Same here. I was classified as a type 2 diabetic. And I'm ot doing well. I hope this surgery helps that. Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
