You don't weigh enough for that....So sick of hearing this!

I went for the 2nd of my 6 month wgt management visits with my PCP. Yay!!!! 4 more to go. Should be great right? Well I get to the back being checked in by the medical asst. and this is when for the zillionth time I hear "you don't weigh enough to have weight loss surgery?" Then I know because of the look she saw on my face she added, "do you?" I had to take a breath to keep myself calm then I say " if I didn't weigh enough do you think I would be having 80 % of my stomach cut out to lose weight?" I then zip my mouth before I said something not so nice....I am soooo dang sick of hearing that from ppl. Ok I am done now.....just had to get it off my chest. I will now smile and show grace and let it go.

Preaching to the choir girlfriend. I say EFF them! We all make our own decisions for various, personal reasons. So long as the choice is for yourself, and not for someone else, it's the right decision.

I really hate that comment, the other really annoying comment is " why are you having surgery, why don't you just really focus on doing te natural way with diet and exercise?" Ugh! Well I I could do it naturally, do you think I would resort to this.. As if we haven't tried that already, it obviously didn't work! Like as if we are taking the "easy" way out? God people can be so judgmental!!

I am 5'2 wgt 200 lbs BMI is almost 37 and have high BP and on 3 bp meds and my bp is still 162/101 today. I have tried every diet known to man with minimal success and then always gain it back plus some. But no I don't need wgt loss surgery.

I am in the exact same boat! Super high BP, hypothyroid which makes it impossible to lose weight on my own! People just don't get it, especially if they have never struggled with weight!

Even the psych AND nut said that to me... Look people, it's aaaaaalllllll 'behind' me! Besides, whacked out thyroid, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and it just hurts to walk..... Nah, we are doing this for the fun of it....

I have struggled with my wgt since I was a teenager. I remember being 16 and an uncle we hadn't seen in a while came to visit and tells me, "Girl, you are getting big!!!" That embarrassed me to no end!!! I was devastated. Now knowing the idiot he was and is I would ignore him. But then I didn't. Then progressively I got bigger and bigger after 2 pregnancies. I have weighed more than I do now; however, I will not get back to that point. I believe I have made the best decision for myself. I just am still floored by Ppl and their insensitivity at times.

I was talking to someone the other day and mentioned that I was going to have surgery. She looked at me and said " Seriously? You do not look heavy enough." I pointed out that my current weight is 250. She was in shock. Could not believe that I weighed that much. I am 5'9 so people do not see the weight. I however, feel it, in my knees, and hip, and foot. My BMI was 41 when I was 278lbs. I have lost down to 250 on weight watchers but have been stalled for 2 months. Glad I am getting the surgery.

They just dont understand that it is not all about being super heavy, its about a lot of factors. Let the ignorant be ignorant. We know why! Right?

I am taller than most girls and I would often hear that I don't look big enough for that surgery. Big enough.....????? Really? So that person is subtly informing me that they know I am BIG just not The World's Biggest Gal big. I had to tell them that I am qualified to have the surgery but I have other conditions that I found to life threatening to deal with if I didn't have the surgery.

I guess some people do it to be nice. IDK. but they don't know our struggle. People constantly told me your not that fat, your too young, it doesnt work. blah blah then you dont do it!!!!.

If i listened to these people I would not have been weighing 233.9lbs today (10 weeks out) I would have probably gained 5 pounds and have been eating all the wrong stuff. When they tell you that next time just tell them thank you. SO imagine how great i'll look after surgery! Good Luck!!! these next 4 months will fly by.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
