It is unavoidable...but I started taking Biotin & prenatal Vitamins a year before surgery. Since surgery (I am 12 weeks out today), I started using biotin/collagen shampoo/conditioner & I am styling my hair less right now using less products on it. I haven't experienced it yet, but I know it usually hits around the 4 month mark...

Best of luck to you!

It's kind of just something to live with. I lost half my hair at 3 months. But it's growing back in!!! Lol

I just deal with it, it'll come back

Oh!! I'm six months out and my routine is..... Um.. Oh... Well... It doesn't matter actually because it fell out anyway! :P

But really if its going to happen its going to happen. I noticed it more than anyone else around me. It started at 4 months and now at 6 it's stopped and I'm hopeful it will come back.

The best thing you can do is just know that it will happen to some extent and come to peace with it and know its temporary.

Easy for you to say!!!! :P

I freaked the heck out for a long time. No use crying over spilt milk... Or in this case lost hair.

My husband told me to officially get over myself, he REFUSED to do anymore nightly scalp examinations. So I have taken matters into my own hands with a mirror. It's funny the OCD/Addictive behaviors that pop up, now that my old buddy "food" has been replaced. Seriously, shopping, realty TV you name it stuff is scaring me. One of the biggest reasons I have been MIA around here, staying up till 4 am on VST was getting out of hand. Just needed to rant

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
