Anyone who has had Cigna who had sleeve this year?

Recommended Posts

I have Cigna and was approved in a week. 40+ BMI and high blood pressure' date=' 3 mos of PCP appts, one nutritionist phone interview, psych eval, and history of morbid obesity documented through old records. Fortunately, easy peasy for me. Good luck!!![/quote']

I'm over 40+ bmi, co-morbidities, did my pcp appts, nutritionist, psych, etc. hopefully it goes just as smoothly for me :)

From what I understand' date=' your doctor's office "opens the claim" to get the claim number. Then Cigna "requests the clinical information" and then it goes to medical review. I initially got some letter saying they needed more information, and that's how my coordinator explained it.[/quote']

Sounds like I am on the right track, then. :)

Cigna is a stickler for the details. I was denied on my first round because my 3 month span with the NUT was only 89 days and they wanted to see 90 (thanks feb for being 28 days.) I met with my NUT immediately, they resubmitted, and I was approved days later. I was sleeved 5/23

Well I've almost done 3 months with my PCP. And will do 3 more months with the NUT, since I don't want to be sleeved until Sept since at my job its so busy right now. I'm a Vet Tech so the summers I do tons of overtime and more pets will be coming in now than in August and Sept when people are more concerned getting in the mode of getting kids back to school or college. .

Thank you all for these posts. I am currently in my 90day pre-op requirement phase with CIGNA. I was a little nervouse until I read your posts. I actually have an AWESOME team of individuals which includes a patient advocate who speaks to me regularly to confirm that I am doign exactly what the insurance company requires. A part of my program is to have someone else have to keep track of what the insurance company wants and to submit as soon as they have everything. As much as I appreciate my patient advocate, she is not a patient. Hearing from those of you who have been through this has given me a jolt of encouragement. Thank you again. Hoping for Surgery Mid Feb. My 90days will be up 1/26/14.....staying prayed up!

I have Cigna, and did a three-month "diet" and a few other tests. My meetings with the NUT weren't 30 days apart, but rather 3-4 weeks and always in a new calendar month. Initial visit in mid-August, 2nd mid-September, 3rd early October, 4th early November. Accidentally submitted to insurance early on Halloween, a few days before my final NUT visit, but they sent over the notes from that visit same-day as an attachment, and I had my approval within 36 hours (or within one week from the initial accidental submission). My start BMI was 41+, and I had none of the typically recognized co-morbidities. The hoops I had to jump through we're minimal compared to some requirements I've seen on here. Overall, MUCH easier than I thought it would be. I had surgery 12/03/13.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
