Should I be nervous?

Recommended Posts

This has been too easy for me. I have had a few bumps ( 3 plateaus, the old me bought a blizzard but could only eat very small amount).

I am happy but the last few days I have been getting this feeling like I will end up failing after I reach my goal. I don't know how or don't have it planned out how either.

I was feeling depression at first because of not being able to enjoy a big meal at a buffet ever again.

Is this something common that some banders go thru?

My past record is yo-yoing.

I'm feeling uneasy.

One of my customers who KNOWS me gave me a gift certificate to the best and most expensive buffet in town today! Gee thanks.:phanvan

Buffets are wonderful. All that food. New plates. Having anything you want in any amount. The thought of it gets me excited. Then I think about how much I overate, and I laugh at the thought of a buffet ever being more important than my health.

While I am a slow loser, and have had many second, third, fourth thoughts about "why did I do this" I can also remember, after eating way too much at some buffet thinking "why did I do that"

Go enjoy the food, try to take your friend that gave you the gift. When they see the small amount that you eat they may understand a little more. I find most people "just do not understand". It is something we banders must learn to deal with.

I have been banded since early June and I have 15 lbs to reach goal. I worry about maintenance, I'm still losing so I guess when I go on maintenance I will have to have a small unfill so that I can increase my calorie intake....don't want to keep losing. But, it scared me to death until the other day when I went to a buffet with my girlfriends.

I chose what I felt I should be eating and how much and had the odd very small bit of a few of my favourites that aren't so low cal but the portion was so small it wouldn't matter. I realized that I had a fabulous time....I didn't miss at all not being able to load up my plate and stuff myself. I enjoyed the company and seeing my friends have a good time and I was still able to have fun as well.

Hi Edie, I went through food withdrawal big time. I mourned the loss of my friend as surgery approached. It looks like your weight loss has been really steady. I would just take a good look in the mirror and get back on the horse. You can do this. Happy Holidays.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
