losingit2013 48 Posted May 29, 2013 I'm doing my pre-op liquid and I am looking for advice on how to alleviate Constipation. I'm drinking Water. . I'm jot supposed to take supplements or pills for these next two weeks. Would a softener really hurt my stomach?
newat52 1,613 Posted May 29, 2013 Try adding some Miralax to your shakes or a small amount of milk of magnesia. Constipation is a real and painful issue for a lot of people post op so watch closely then as well.
junebug38 13 Posted May 29, 2013 I'd call the doctor's (or even nutritionist?) office and see what they say. I'm sure they deal with it all the time and could recommend something that wouldn't compromise the surgery.
junebug38 13 Posted May 29, 2013 I'd also try getting some exercise, if you're not already. Getting moving gets things moving!
1stBabeBorn5th 51 Posted May 29, 2013 The Protein Shakes dissipate me too. Glad I'm not alone. I drink a "get regular" tea once or twice a day.

SLF1027 136 Posted May 31, 2013 An enema will get you going in no time without having to take anything. Just use boiled/bottled Water than is a few degrees warmer than your body temp. It will also help any stomach pains you may be having.
