weigh in #2 didnt go so well

Recommended Posts

I had my 2nd weigh in with my pcp on saturday. I gained 3 lbs putting me at 254lbs. What the heck is all i have to say. I did a pretty good job writing down everything i ate which she was happy about. I was honest as could be even if i ate something that would be considered cheating. The day i felt most satisfied was the day i had a Tomato basil salad and grilled swordfish. She said it was because for once i had a well balanced meal.

She said that i am eating too much processed food and gave me a list of a few things i should be eating daily. I have my 1st appt with the nutritionist tomorrow.

This 6 month wait feels like its dragging on forever. I have to go for my bloodwork on friday and i did manage to set up an appt with the cardiologist for june. Hoping to set up the psyhc or pulmonologist for june too along with weigh in #3 with PCP

Back to the drawing board for now i suppose.

Weights go up and down. I know that you are concerned, but keep following your (growing) new eating habits, and over the long term, the only way the weight will go is DOWN!!!

I hear u. I'm only 3 wks out I had a horrible week last week. Could barely swollow Water. Went all the way down to 221. This week I'm feeling a lot better taking in a lot of liquids and trying to get as much protien as possible through food and I'm up 5 lbs. I'm kinda depressed. I'm hopping it will pass.

Don't focus on the numbers to much. You are eating the right things is 10x better than fast foods etc. It will come off just have to let you body adjust and help it along by working out, getting your Protein in, and Water in.

Also muscle weighs more then fat. Did they take any readings to see if you gain muscle?

Also did you BMI drop? you might have gained weight but if your BMI dropped that is also good.

My weight went up and down every month of my 6 months. I would lose 3 then gain 2. The last weigh in I gained 5 and figured I could give up on approval but I was approved. If your insurance is like mine the 6 months is to show that you attempted to lose the weight. My diet requirement for insurance was basically worded "attempt and failure to lose more than 10% of excess body weight". So I wouldn't stress too much over it.

I had lost 4.5 pounds on my second weigh in, but on my third I'd gained 2.5 pounds over my starting weight! It is very frustrating. June will be month #4 for me. I can't believe how fast everything is going by! It won't be long before the weight is falling off! So, just stick in there! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
