Hi Ninababy!

I'm still pretty new to this band, but so far I'm so pleased. It's not hard to eat less, because for the first time that I can remember in my life, I'm actually satisfied after a reasonable meal. Before, I'd have to force myself to stop eating, I could almost always have kept going. And often did eat way too much. Now, I reach a point where I'm just done eating. food is no longer all that appealing, and I don't obsess over it between meals like I used to.

So, I guess my bottom line is I'm enjoying my food a lot more because I'm eating slowly and actually tasting it. And I don't feel the urge to eat until I'm miserable.

I know how you feel. Any type of WLS is scary. And food has been our lover for so long (weird thought) but its true. food gives us the pleasure all the time, and now we are going to change that? But think of it this way, when you get the band, eventually food is not the center of attention any longer, YOU ARE. You become healthier, smaller, and you start getting compliments. My friend who had the lap band 3 years ago tells me that she loved food so much, thats all she thought about, and now that she has lost 130 lbs, she could care less about food. She loves the way she looks, feels, and she said being skinny taste a heck a lot better than food any day. I realized if she can do it, I can to, because I personally knew how much she loved food and loved to cook.

She still eats what she wants, but eats very small amounts, and that is enough to satisfy her and she has NO REGRETS. So, do your research and then decide if the band is for you.

Ninababy...we were all as nervous about the commitment as you are wondering if we are going to be able to do it, wondering if it will make us so miserable not being able to eat as much as we have been but the good news is you can still enjoy food...probably more so with the band...with not eating so much you get used to savouring the flavour! and when the lbs start melting off it is such a positive experience and soooooo... exciting...giving you enough motivation to keep on going and most importantly to keep with the program!!! It is overwhelming at times expecially before the surgery but for me it was the best thing I ever did...and I don't regret it. LBT is a great place for support and encouragement and we are here for each other so this is a grand place to start the journey ahead of you...keep us posted!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
