Has anyone had problems with Constipation? I am 15 days out and stupid me wasn't paying attention to my body. I have gone 7 days without a bm. I started taking stool softners 3 days ago and Miralax 2 days ago. I called the doctor today and they said try an enema. Did that tonight with really no success. I have to call again in the morning to see what's next. I have increased my Fluid intake to also try and help. I feel so stupid because I work in healthcare and know the norms. I don't see how I didn't notice. To top it off I've not dropped a lb in the last week.

I had my revision on May 6th. I didn't have a BM for 12 days even after taking miralax for days. I finally broke down and took a laxative. That worked and than same story. Now at 3 weeks I am eating regular soft foods and have been going almost daily. I think it is such a shock to your system in the beginning. Don't fret it will all work its way out lol!

Nope...I'm 5 1/2 mo out & still have Constipation issues! I hink it's because we don't eat much so things move slower! I promise...after today (don't ask!!) I'm going to start taking a stool softener every other day! :-/

When I was about a week post op, I was constipated for 9 days. I have never been constipated before and it was just wretched! The doctor's office told me to take Miralax. Two days later I had a BM and have been pretty regular since. No longer a daily event, but I do have a healthy BM 3 - 4 days per week and I haven't had that horrid stopped up feeling again.

I think it has to do with the healing and really not much food in the system to waste. I will say that it does pass, but it is not at all a pleasant thing to go through. Hang in there.

Had the same problem and increasing my fluids really helped. At 4 months post-op I slacked off my liquids and continued taking my stool softener but got stopped up again. Back to pushing the fluids! In my case I know it's the high Protein that is stopping me up.

Yep. It was bad. Really bad. Didn't realize Protein made lots of poop, even the liquid protein! Ugh, it was awful and one of the most painful things I can recall. Get the Milk of Magnesia. I still put about a teaspoon of Miralax in my morning shake and take the childen's Fiber gummies.< /p>

Sounds like you may be impacted? I sure hope not. Good luck! It does get better though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
