I have bcbc oregon and have to wait 6 months. So fustrating. I have been to the Nutritionist, pysch eval, and 2 doctors visits and going tomorrow for my 3rd office visit. Now sit and weight for the time to go by. My insurance said as long as the FIRST visit was over 40BMI Im cleared no matter if I go under that number prior to the surgery date.

Won't they require you to go to monthly appointments during that 6 months?

I will be going back to doctors for supervised medical weight loss visit #4 on June 20th. I went today and lost only 4 # in 4 weeks. I have been so faithful in the Proteins shakes and no bread or sweets. You have any ideas to bump up results?

Are they requiring you to lose weight during this pre approval period? Many doctors and insurance do require it but mine told me just the opposite....they said don't lose more than a couple pounds before approval or I might not get approved...isn't that crazy? I was finally approved but have not gotten my date yet.

Just be sure you follow their directions exactly and get enough Proteins and Water.....from everything I have read on these threads, if you don't get enough of both, you won't lose weight....its like your body thinks it is going to starve so it stores everything it gets, instead of only using what it really needs. Best of luck!! I am sure I will "see" you again on the boards!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
