kris1189 15 Posted May 28, 2013 So I had my first appointment with the barbaric surgeon. The surgeon was great and ever informational. However the lady who was suppose to help me understand what my insurance requires didn't know anything. Does anyone have Blue Shield PPO?
notmeanymore 629 Posted May 28, 2013 My BCBS PPO (Federal Basic) required a 3 month medically supervised diet which consisted of me seeing a nutritionist and doctor once a month for 3 months, a psy evaluation, sleep apnea testing but I already had it, I had to get my heart checked too. I think that was it. The time went very fast.

Caaattt 37 Posted May 29, 2013 So I had my first appointment with the barbaric surgeon. The surgeon was great and ever informational. However the lady who was suppose to help me understand what my insurance requires didn't know anything. Does anyone have Blue Shield PPO? I am from New York and have the same insurance. The lady should know about your insurance. They also give you the code for the surgery and have you call bcbs to see if it is covered.

It would be because I was smoking and quit.

Lordy you were lucky. I'm just starting my 6 month diet and despairing because that seems like such a long time. Maybe that will happen to me!

need2bthin! 235 Posted May 29, 2013 I have BCBS highmark, I am in the last month of my 6m supervised diet, my weight has yo-yo back and forth. My insurance said my BMI had to stay above a 40 the entire time, I am a 41BMI so I really couldn't lose a lot. I had blood test, psych eval, TNE scope, and monitored diet by my dr. I file all the papers next month, so fingers crossed!!

My weight has gone down a little every month (except 1, I was on vacation) but I did have to slow play the diet so not to lose to much. I hope to be on the other side of this maybe in July? Good luck to you
Rena's got this 274 Posted May 29, 2013 Did you do all your tests?? All but the final Nutritionist appointment. The surgeon's office said to wait until I was halfway through my 6 month diet requirement. I think there may be some more lab work I need to complete as well just before the surgery.
