Advertising for specific doctors

Recommended Posts

Does anybody else feel like the doctor's in Mexico must beg or bribe their patients to get on here and do a little free advertising? I mean seriously, you seldom if EVER see that with one of our own physicians here in the United States, ONLY the doctors in Mexico. Of course, being married to an IT guy, who is suspicious and paranoid by nature......I automatically am skeptical. Kind of like reading the headlines on the Enquirer Magazine, you know what is more than likely FALSE!!!! I like my doctor, I'd use him again and would have no problem recommending him. In fact, I have recommended him, but I always include a second, maybe a third doctor here in the Dallas area that I KNOW is good and is a Center of Excellence physician AND who I'd have considered or did consider using. I do not and WILL NOT exclusively recommend my doctor unless I am on the payroll for marketing on his behalf. LoL I was just wondering if I'm alone, if I am the ONLY one who has noticed this. There is one reason and one reason only to go to a doctor in a different country. Money, and I totally understand that, but lets be honest here. It isn't because you've found a doctor who outshines all the MD's here in the lower 48. I had the nurses cell number, which was answered from 7 AM until 11 PM, 365 days a year. I had a one week, two week, three month, six month and one year follow up. All included in the price. I have a dietitian at my beck 'n call. Nutrition classes that are included the first year. This is not exclusive to MY doctor.....this is pretty standard with most of the U.S. doctors. If it's about money, I get that, but none of the posting seems to ever say that, none ever day, "If money is an issue, I found Dr. So 'n So, located in Juarez or wherever.....to be a good physician. Blah, blah, blah. Ok, I'm through! 'Nuff said.

In thinking positive, I am sure that going to Mexico in itself could be quite scary, due to being another country and so many horror stories spread through the media, I think that it would be helpful if someone is able to put someone's fears at ease by hearing a positive experience,,,that is if it truly is an "actual" experience.

I was blessed to have been able to have my surgery paid by my insurance in my native country, but hopefully hearing about someone's experience, who was not so lucky I am sure could be helpful to quash the anxiety and fears of others. IMO

LOL.... OK well as a marketing director I have to point out that there must be some sort of sponsorship or donation in order to keep advertising these Dr.'s These ads aren't entirely free. Maybe to lower overhead for maintenance this site included the ads.

Also, it was amusing to read "I do not and WILL NOT exclusively recommend my doctor unless I am on the payroll for marketing on his behalf. LoL" and yet in your signature you are inadvertently advertising for him. I am not picking on you... please do not see it that way, I just thought it was amusing, because all of your great accomplishments post op could be attributed to your surgeon, Dr. Davidson.

If my insurance had not paid I would have considered this option. I love my sleeve and the weight loss so far. More importantly, I love how I'm growing and changing in other ways, beyond the scale. I don't judge the individuals who had surgery in Mexico. Like me, they too wanted a new lease on life. I think they talk more about their surgery in Mexico as a way to reassure others who are considering. Let's face it--when you mention having surgery in Mexico you immediately think the worse. There experience ease the minds of others who are scheduled and I think that's a win-win. And, I've posted comments about my wonderful surgeon in the US. It's call living in the "social media" age and sharing life experiences. Sure, it's marketing, in a way of sorts, but no one is twisting your arm to share you life experiences.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
