HealthNet do they cover?

Recommended Posts

I am still trying to find a way to get the LapBand. I have a high BPM shouldn't be a problem but what about HealthNet? What Steps do I have to take?

1. Talk to Primary doc

2. Make a claim with my insurance?

How does this work??? Thanks sooo much for the tips!

Kitty, HealthNet generally is band-friendly, but you have to look are your specific contract to see if there is coverage for bariatric surgery. Then you have to see if you qualify medically. The place to start is usually with a physical at your primary care doctor's office, at which he or she will make a recommendation for bariatric surgery. Then you find a surgeon and take it from there. Even if you don't need a referral from your primary doc (that depends on your policy), you will need a report and full physical from that doctor so it's always a good place to start.

Good luck!!

I have HealthNet. They are the devil. I was on a 6 month diet, and went through all of their hoops and was denied. So I tried to file the appeal myself and basically their CSR's are about the rudest people in the world, I now have a lawyer who has taken care of the case for me and she said that HealthNet was the worse Insur. comp. she's had to deal with so far. Get used to be putting on hold and re-routed. If you do get denied PM me, I have a phone number of a woman who will give you your stuff out of the Headquarters in Shelton, CT don't ask me how I got it, I have my connections :girl_hug:

Good luck with HealthNet, but if you can save the aggrivation and self-pay.

I called my insurance, Healthnet, and they said it is a plan exclusion. They don't cover Lap Band at all. The guy even supposedly asked a suppervisor to make sure. Should I just take his word for it? What do I do next? Has anyone else had this problem? Should I change insurance?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
