I was sleeved on 5/17. I am feeling good so I decided to invite family over for a BBQ. They were all afraid to come because they didn't want to eat in front of me. I wanted to break everyone from that' date=' so I encouraged them to come. I am perfectly fine with people eating and enjoying their food in front of me. It doesn't bother me. They all feel guilty. I don't want to be isolated. I want to be with everyone because in my opinion, it's not about the food, it's about family being together. I made a huge Pasta salad and my hubby BBQ'd burgers and dogs. I'm not gonna lie, it all looked and smelled great, but I was truly ok with it all. My way of dealing with all of this I guess. The family relaxed when it came time to eat and didn't make a huge deal about it. It was a great day. Btw, my son in law is serving in the Army. This was also to pay tribute to him, as well![/quote']

Wow! What a great, positive attitude! I struggled with the smells, but stuck to my Pre-op liquid diet plan. My family ate barbecue and I had a Protein drink (isopure) but no one acted like it was a big deal. I think it was different for me cuz I'm Pre-op. I'm going to do what you did when I'm post-op though - that was amazing :-) thanks for sharing.

Tonight I had a a bison cheeze burger on a home made whole wheat roll :D some baked organic black and pinto Beans and about a half bottle of a fine Sierra Nevada Big Foot Ale. For dessert I had a Trader Joe's 100 cal chocolate bar. This morning I had a nice 2 mile run and was in the gym for about 90 minutes. Feel absolutely great!!

How? I think we are going to be grilling some steak tonight and have a side salad.

We ended up having grilled ranch chicken breast with roasted red pepper!

We kept ourselves very busy with the kids all weekend and then I opted to have a bbq at our house where I could control the food. Grilled chicken, salad a "health...ier" Pasta salad then most (none for me) and a fresh fruit salad. It was delicious and everyone enjoyed.

They were smaller than usual but the fact that I could eat them kinda scared me. Trying 2 get the Water intake in can sometimes bea challenge

I had about 40 people over, and cooked a bunch of food. It was better than expected. I enjoyed the people, without worrying about the food. There were enough people that nobody noticed I had hardly eaten anything, but I did get some compliments on how I was looking good!

I'm preop and am scared that I'll never enjoy a glass of Riesling again. Thanks for showing me that it is possible!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
