what if I dont lose weight?

Recommended Posts

So I let my SO look at some of the threads on here and he came across one talking about what are people eating post op.. he then made a good point to me and said "you ate this way before your surgery"...he wasnt trying to put me down because he is my biggest supporter but now I'm wondering what if I dont lose weight. I was sleeved on May 23rd and before surgery I usually ate 1000-1200 calories per day (1400 when we went out) I also exercised 5-6 days per week. Was anyone else like me who lived a very healthy lifestyle, had all the tests and still couldnt lose weight? What is your success like post op?

I was so scared I was going to fail at this, like all my other efforts to lose weight. The sleeve is a very powerful tool to help you. As long as you follow the eating plan set by your dr and nutritionist you will lose. Some weeks will be more than others, and sometimes you will stall for a while. But if you keep at it you will be successful this time. Go for it girl, it will change your life. :)

I had that issue. I play soccer 3 days a week, do tkd 4 days a week, krav maga 2 days a week before surgery. I now added running a 5k 3 days a week. I started with needing to lose 80lbs - surgery was dec 13th and I have lost 58 lbs!! I have never stalled more than a week and a half. I am way ahead of my dr predictions - I think because I am so active. It jas been awesome. Bad part - I keep going thru cloths.

You will do great! Follow the meal plan anf stay active!

I'm with you. I've always eaten healthy and excercised. When I tried the trendy diets I never lost like everyone else did. I weigh 190. I'm down from 205 since being sleeved May 15th. I have to eat Protein or I DO NOT lose. I can't do the creamy Soups bcuz there full of carbs. My body is used of healthy foods and I find the first few weeks we are allowed to eat stuff that I wouldn't normally eat.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
