I am 6 days post op and want a little flavor. The plain can/box broth isn't cutting it. What is everyone liking?

I liked the canned Mexican tortilla Soup. I strained it and drank it.

I know your pain. It will go by quickly. I hardly remember it now. My diet is so easy now. More of a Paleolithic curve to it but Protein, protein, protein with small amounts of cashews and almonds and fruit, melons and berries.

That sounds delish. I love Mexican food (can't wait for beans). I am not actually hungry but I know I have to eat and when I do something with a little flavor would be nice!

Haven't started tasting them yet, but I've tried other flavors of this brand and they're yummo! I found these in the organic/natural foods section of Fred Meyer (west coast grocery store). The Tom yum broth looks especially good (Thai).

I bought a butternut squash roasted it and and then puréed it with some chicken broth. Makes a delicious butternut squash Soup with out the fat of making it with heavy cream!

Early out I loved Anderson Split Pea Soup. Always sat well and has 9-10 grams of Protein per cup. I also ate Campbell's Cream of chicken, Trader Joe's Butternut Squash, and later Progresso Tomato Basil (Tomato was much too acidic for me at first).

Other brands of Split Pea Soup had potato puree, which I didn't tolerate well at first.

You can make your own split pea very easily. 3 cups split peas rinsed (I throw mine in the crockpot) I put a box of chicken stock in for flavor, a couple of cloves of garlic or garlic powder. Chop an onion real fine. If you want you can add grated carrots or celery but you will have to blend or strain when done. Salt and pepper to taste. Let it cook all day.

The Soup will thicken quite a bit when cooled. I just scoop 1/3-1/2 a cup into my mug add a little Water and heat. You could probably freeze into ice cubes and use as needed.

Thanks for the recipe! I will try making it and freezing. The Anderson Split Pea is quite expensive and hard to find.
