Ok just for giggles why don't you educate us as to how a BMI of 30 can be obese for certain heights and not for others....

I will wait in case you need to pull up supporting documentation or take a smoke break..

That is exactly my argument. That not EVERYONE with a BMI of 30 is "obese".

Ahh, but you still read and responded didn't you? Don't like what I have to say, don't read it. Oh, and it's not "high calibre" its high caliber. Calibre is a font, I believe.

*puts English teacher hat on*

Calibri is a font.

Caliber is the American English spelling.

Calibre is the British English spelling (and since they invented the language, I let them spell it as they wish, even with the "u" in "colour" and "favourite", and spelling "theatre" intead of "theater").

AussieLady meant exactly what she typed, since her screen name shows she's from Oz (-stralia, not where Dorothy went with her ruby slippers).

We now return to our regularly-scheduled program of wackdoodlery, shenanigans and hooliganism.

I KNOW!!! And you are wrong...

I'm sorry, but by definition at a 30 bmi you are considered obese.

Underweight = <18.5;

Normal weight = 18.5–24.9;

Overweight = 25–29.9;

Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater ...

oh no...LOL. Please look at the BMI links! Or go to the NHLBI homepage (www.nhlbi.nih.gov) and click on Tools link under Physician Resources. Everyone with a BMI of 30 or above is obese. There is no room for interpretation. This is a medical fact.

Anyone with a BMI of 30 is considered Obese.....if someone's wgt is 165 and 5'2 their BMI is 30. 30 and above is OBESE. If your wgt is 210 and you are 5'10 your BMI is still 30 and they are still OBESE. If someone else's wgt is 250 and hgt is 6'4 they obese with a BMI of 30. No matter how you calculate this a BMI of 30 is OBESE......

Isn't that kind of like arguing over whether a pound of feathers is lighter than a pound of bricks?

BMI is BMI is BMI, no matter if it's distributed over 5 feet, 6 feet 3 inches, or somewhere in between. It's a percentage of fat content in one's body, isn't it? No matter what height or width that body measures, if the standard is 30 BMI = obese, than technically the 7-foot tall person with a 30 BMI is obese, just in a taller package than someone who is 5'5" at 30 BMI.

Obese is obese is obese.. Unless you're under a 30 BMI and then your not obese you're just fat (until you reach your goal)

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
