dog owners-easy walk harness

Recommended Posts

I have a 65lb lab mix and pre surgery we use an easy walk harness (the kind that attaches the leash in the front) he doesnt pull at all with this type of harness...would it be safe to walk him 4 days post op with this? .. anyone have this type of harness?. Since he doesnt pull ill basically be only holding the weight of the leash.

I would ask your surgeon, but if he doesn't pull, you should be okay. I would also just be careful if walking on rough terrain bc you definitely don't want a fall right now--have to be careful about staple line and healing incisions. But the walk would probably be great for both of you if surgeon gives the nod!

I would wait a week or two. There are so many other things that can potentially happen on a dog walk besides pulling. You don't want to hurt yourself. I have a large breed too and although well behaved, I didn't want to risk tripping, or pulling or any other potential incident.

Thanks guys ill ask tomorrow since the office is closed today...its not that important that I have to contact the on call doctor. I already walk about an hour per day (papers say to do at least a half an hour)...I may try later when my fiance gets home from work with him next to me in case he gets too much I can just drop the leash. I feel bad because we live in a condo and I'm used to taking him on jogs and to the dog park daily and my fiance has become somewhat of a single father lol

I walked all of my dogs (I have 5)...my 2nd day home from surgery. BUT, none of my dogs are that large. I would wait & check with the dr. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I have the same sized dog. I had no problems walking her. I just made sure to be extra vigilant so there was nothing that she might go nuts about..another dog etc.

One other thing though, be very careful when you bend over to pick up poop, I did it too quick and gave my internal stitches a pull and holy batman it hurt for a week.

How long after surgery were you walking her?

How long after surgery were you walking her?

I started walking her two weeks after surgery. Funny enough she was recovering from TPLO surgery at the same time so we were walking about the same pace lol.

We walked every day two to three times a day for 10 minutes each. Once I got cleared for harder exercise I still walk her but I don't count it as my calorie burn. Worst part is she now needs TPLO on the other knee :(

I three months out currently.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
