I see many people saying straight Water is hard to go down, what do you mean by that and why? I'm in the process of getting sleeved now but my hubby was just sleeved, what do you all mean by that water being hard to go down, or straight water, I'm confused why is it harder, if so what do you do instead? My hubby is having pain when he drinks and I was wondering if this could be why bc he is trying to drink lots of water.

Tapwater nausea is what some call it. I hear that it helps if you just put a little flavor in it.

I didn't use to have a problem with just drinking tap Water, until I had my surgery. I can only drink flavored water, and know that's minimal. In order to get my water in I can only drink fruit Punch Crystal Light, hopefully it will change.

I have no problem drinking plain Water so I guess it depends on the person. All the flavored water I have tried tastes way too sweet for me. ..everything is sweeter now...I am told this is normal and will pass.

The surface tension of plain Water is high, which can be difficult for your stomach to manage. Putting a few drops of squash, or fruit juice or crystal light etc. reduces the surface tension and makes it easier to stomach.

I haven't had a problem with Water, just things that were too cold. I would always drink room temp water and was fine. Now, I'm able to drink cold water with no problems.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
