Gallbladder issues but june 6 sleeve date

Recommended Posts

I have started my pre-op diet and been doing great. My surgery is scheduled for June 6 but I am feeling pain under my breast on the right side. I believe it is my gall bladder and I do not want it to interfere with my surgery. What can I do to ease the pain so it doesn't interfere. I am so ready for my surgery.

You should probably talk to your surgeon. Sometimes they take out the gallbladder during VSG surgery, so maybe he could just take it out while he's in there. It is really common for people to have gallbladder problems after rapid weight loss, so if you are having problems now it will probably be worse after surgery. Its something that's worth talking to your surgeon about. Good luck!

I think you should talk to the sugeon asap and see what alll that is about? before your surgery. You dont want any complication during surgery

Agree about checking with your surgeon. He/she will probably just remove it at the same time. A lot of people wind up having their gallbladder removed anyway. Or shouldn't delay getting sleeved.

Your surgeon needs to know ASAP so he/she can make the best decision for your overall health. That is what's most important at this point. I hope the attack isn't so bad and the GB can just be removed during the sleeve procedure.

Good luck!

I do not want anything to change when I get my sleeve. That is why I do not want to say anything at all. I have been waiting for this and would be devastated if I do joy have it when it is scheduled.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
