2 weeks post-op! Woohoo - however. I was fine until about 3 days ago... The first day just felt like I maybe pulled a muscle in my abdomen. The next day & day it feels as though something is stabbing me from the inside, sometimes almost a burning sensation. Anyone else have this??? Of course it started after my 10 day Followup visit to my surgeon. :-(

I am on post-op day 2. When I try to drink Water my stomach/abdomen is extraordinarily painful, like a knife in the stomach. I haven't even tried a Protein Shake. I am scared to death that I will become dehydrated and be re-admitted. Help! Is this normal Any suggestions??

I was great until about 10 days than woke up with a stabbing pain under my left breast in my ribs when I breath. Called the Dr. and they said its probably nothing just par to the course. That pain went away but moved to my back. Now 20 days out and the pain is finally subsiding. If it gets worse call your Dr.

This is quite normal at about 2 to 3 weeks out it is from the healing suture lines inside of the abdominal wall. Try and not bend and twist to much.

I am three weeks post opp and experienced the same sharp stabbing pains in my side and back. It woke me up in the middle of the night and the pain was worse when I took deep breaths. It happened the night I tried whey Protein for the first time. I believe it was really bad gas. Although it still feels sore now and it's been 3 days. The pain goes away all together when I work out. But as soon a I cool down... It comes back.

highest weight = 228 DOS = 219 CW = 206 DOS was May 7th 2013

To all you ladies,

3 weeks out..... Are you back to work? Life? Ect. That is my biggest concern. I am able and willing to do surgery but I have a sales job and I travel. I am able to take 3 weeks off. Wondering if this will be enough.

Working out did I read? You go girl

Does the pain go away in about 30 seconds to a minute? If so, you might be drinking too much as a time. Try sipping and waiting, sipping and waiting.

I think 3 weeks should be just fine. I had my surgery on May 30 and am not due to return until June 27 (4 weeks). Im seriously considering going back next week, after my follow up on June 10.

Everyone's recovering is different, but I had my surgery on a Wednesday (5/22) and was back to work the next week Tuesday (5/28).

OMG...read this and went "how did she KNOW?!" I'm feeling the exact same way. Emailed my Dr. and he said it was my internal cuts in the muscles healing. He said unless there was fever & other things involved, no worries...just part of the recovery. Glad to know I'm in good company folks! :-)

Not kidding - EXACTLY a month after my surgery to the day, my pain went away! It was miserable. I went back to work after 2 weeks after surgery and was ok for the most part other than being uncomfortable from the pain. I am working out now & back to my normal chaotic & busy life. And I'm loving it! It definitely gets easier - hang in there!!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
